the sun only shines for so long.
the sun shines because that's what it was born to do. shine brighter, bigger, better than everyone else. that's what the little boy was taught, living in fear of being second. second place, first loser.
but he was perfect in everyone's eyes. they adored him, especially when he'd look their way in the halls. if you were lucky, maybe he'd smile at you.
the boy did almost every activity. he was an artist, an athlete, a straight a student, a star. the biggest one— the sun.
he didn't talk to many people though, said it only distracted him from his goal. no one knew what his goal was, they thought he had already achieved everything possible.
he didn't go to parties, either. just stayed at home, studying— but that changed this year, since dorms were included, he dwelled there. he wasn't very fond of the idea of having a roommate, though.
most thought about him constantly, concerned on whether or not he had fun. were people there for him? is he satisfied with just making others happy?
it made everyone wonder; if he's the light in everyone else's lives, who's the light in his?
there's one thing the sun can see before it disappears into the darkness..
the moon.
maybe if he didn't come from the wrong side of the tracks, he could've been the sun instead.
the beauty in the darkness— that's what he is. he partied ever so often, not more than what's needed, though. alcohol wasn't really his thing, but feeling free is.
have you ever seen a full moon before? we haven't either— at least, not at school. for some reason, he's just never whole. something's missing, we know it. the whole school knows it. he knows it.
for a while, we thought his boyfriend, han jisung, was that missing piece. we don't really believe that anymore, even though, they're both so in love. a love deeper than any of us have even experienced. a love greater than what the sun has experienced.
the school admires him for afar, scared to admit any feelings towards him— no one wants to be a homewrecker, right? we take in his beauty in silence. no one can deny how beautiful he is.
the sun and the moon, both beautiful, but too different to coexist with each other.
do they think we can't handle such beauty together?

"hyunjin-ah, do you know who your roommate is yet?" felix asked, looking up at the elder.
"not yet."
"hm.. well, you should probably check. we can do it at the same time, how does that sound?"
"it's fine with me, i guess." hyunjin shrugged as he walked through the hallway.
as the two arrived at the poster containing everyone's names and their roommates, all of the students made way for the two blonds, but still surrounded them. among the group of people, the tallest could hear them gossip.
"oh gosh.. he's with him."
"hyunjin hyung can't room with him! he'll be corrupted!"
"maybe he'll finally go do something fun for once."
hyunjin kind of took that last comment to heart. maybe he didn't get out much or have normal college experiences like the rest of the students, but that wasn't his fault.
"oh. my roommate is-" hyunjin was cutoff by someone moving him out of the way— rather harshly.
"hyung.. it's such a shame we aren't roomies together." the brunet pouted at his boyfriend.
han jisung. everyone liked him, but not more than what they liked hyunjin. maybe they liked him because they pitied him.
in all honesty, jisung tried too hard to be like hyunjin. everyone could see it, but who would complain if there was another hyunjin every once in a while?
minho wrapped his arm around his boyfriend's waist, "it's not that big of a deal, i'm sure we'll have plenty of other times to see each other," the taller winked, making jisung giggle— which was annoying to hyunjin.
"sorry, but next time could you at least say excuse me before you decide to push me?" the blond questioned, his facial expression as straight as ever.
with a sarcastic tone laced in his voice, jisung responded, "oh, my apologies. excuse me." he fake smiled at hyunjin.
minho looked away; he didn't exactly love when his boyfriend acted like this for no reason, what's the harm in just being nice to people?
hyunjin ignored the two and focused his attention back to the poster, trying to find his name once again.
"as you were saying earlier, who's your roommate, hyunji-" felix began, but as usual, someone else wanted to be the center of attention.
"you're with him?" jisung gasped, not being able to believe that his boyfriend would be roommates with hyunjin, "i can probably get someone to change this, don't worry, hyung!"
at this point, more and more people were surrounding the four students, so hyunjin and felix left. just like that.
as the taller was walking away though, he couldn't help but listen to the rest of their conversation.
"it's fine, sungie. i'm sure he's not as bad as you say he is."
"so you're taking his side?" hyunjin could hear the bewilderment in jisung's voice. it almost made him crack a smile at the male's stupidity, but he didn't.
"no, that's not what i'm sayin-"
"whatever. i'll see you tonight."
