"y/n?" tyler, age 8, called. the warm july breeze combed through his curly, brown locks.

in front of him was his best friend, y/n l/n, who stared at him with tears running down their cheeks. tyler was confused, he was yet to find out what was happening in that very moment.

"y/n, what's wrong?"

no answer.

"why are you crying?"

y/n stayed quiet, looking to the side, hesitant to speak.

"...y/n?" seeing his best friend so sad made tears well up in his own eyes.

"tyler, i'm leaving." y/n finally spoke.

"oh, well that's okay!" tyler cheered, "we can see each other at school tomorrow!"

"n-no tyler, i'm moving.."

"...what?" the boy now knew why his friend was so devastated, they were gonna leave him.

"my dads want to move to somewhere far away"

"but, but you can't move!" tyler cried, "if you do, how will we ever hang out?"

y/n sniffled, fidgeting with their hands, "that's the thing.."

"we can't hang out anymore."

tyler just felt the entire sky fall and crush him. his vision blurred with tears and next thing he knew, y/n was hugging him.

"bye, tyler.." they buried their face into his shoulder, "i'll miss you."

letting go, they ran to their parent's car and sped off. tyler stood there, watching as y/n drove farther and farther away from him.
