"so..what are we doing here?"
y/n peered through the glass window of the daisy mart, trying to figure out what the rest of their friends were looking at. they looked at the other girls, mei was just as confused as they were but abby, priya and miriam were different.
"mmh!" abby grunted, pressing her lips together.
priya sighed dreamily. y/n followed where their eyes were focused as saw that they were gawking at the cashier.
"..whaaat?" they whispered to themself, brows furrowing.
miriam bit her lip, "mmm...devon!"
they all watched as devon stared lazily into space before he noticed that a calendar was slightly knocked out of place. he moved it back and nodded approvingly, a small smile on his lips.
"my mom cuts his hair at the salon," abby started to whisper, "and i felt it, its vERY. SOFT."
y/n raised a brow.
"woahhh, can i have some?" priya asked, eyes still glued to devon.
y/n raised both brows.
"yeah abby!" miriam cheered, "hook a sister up!"
y/n's jaw dropped.
mei mei stuck out her tongue, "bleghh! he looks like a hobo!" she commented, jumping off of their makeshift tower.
"a HOT hobo!" abby rebutted, jumping off the tower too.
y/n shook their head, "i gotta agree with mei here, he doesn't seem like all that much."
miriam's head snapped towards them, "what?! just look at him, those deep ocean blue eyes, that defined ~jawline~, and abby said his hair is soft!"
y/n crossed their arms, "if you three like him so much, why don't you go talk to him?"
this made the girls frantic. they crowded around y/n and shouted protests.
"we can't! he's working!" miriam voiced, waving her hands around.
"yeah. and i doubt he'd talk to us. we're middle schoolers." priya said monotonously. her eyes flicking towards the daisy mart.
thinking for a moment, y/n came up with a plan.
they smiled mischievously, "how 'bout i talk to him?"
"NO!"
y/n had already started walking towards the front doors of the daisy mart. they had no plans of actually talking to devon about their friends checking him out instead they wanted to pull a harmless joke.
"what was that? 'great idea, y/n! you should totally do that!' ?" they hollered over their shoulder. hearing the slightly distressed and panicked sounds of their friends made them snicker.
pushing open the doors, they made a beeline for the chip isle. their eyes scanned the racks and landed on a bag of bbq chips. grabbing the chips, they slipped into the candy isle and quickly grabbed a pack of gummy worms.
goodies in hand, y/n took a quick glance at their friends outside. miriam was pressed against the window keeping an eye on them while abby was shaking in nerves? excitement? they couldn't tell.
finally approaching the cashier counter, y/n placed their food on it.
"hey." they greeted, keeping their face non-chalant.
devon nodded in response, "hey."
he started scanning the products slowly, he glanced at y/n. "you just moved here?"
"yeah."
"figured." he shrugged, "you got that just moved vibe about you."
raising an amused brow, y/n turned to the window, where they knew their friends were looking in from, with a wicked grin. obviously, nothing happened to warrant that expression but they wanted to mess with their friends.
miriam gasped making abby jump on her.
"WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT'D THEY SAY?!?" she yelled, shaking miriam by the shoulders. it was obvious that they couldn't hear anything through the glass.
y/n snickered quietly before turning to devon again.
"that'll be 7.55" he said, handing the food to y/n.
pulling out a 10 dollar bill, they gave him a grateful smile, "thanks, dude. keep the change."
walking out of the daisy mart, they were pounced on by their friends.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HIM?"
rip y/n :(
