ARIELLA'S POV
The alarm I set the night before blared loudly rousing me from dreamland and causing a low groan to leave my lips. Reaching over I slap the stupid thing hard enough that it falls to its death from my nightstand and onto the floor. But I don't care. I'm too sleepy to care. I guess letting 'lttle me' stay up for as long as I did last night watching 'Sleeping Beauty' wasn't the best decision I've ever made.
Sighing, I slowly blink my eyes open and allow them to adjust to the small light seeping in through the gap in my curtains.
I was still trying to wake up when all of a sudden my best friend bursts into my room and starts singing.
"Today it is your birthday and we sing to let you know, that you will be queen for the day whatever you say goes.
"We spin for you Arielle
And sashay for you Pinky
We pirouette for you Fluffy
And we bow before the queens""And king!" I laugh and hold up Mr Fluffy, my stuffed unicorn. Mr Fluffy is one of the many stuffies I own and my most loyal companion, besides my best friend of course!
I love my stuffies. Every single one of them.
"We sing because we love you and we sing to let you know, that you will be queen for the day whatever you say goes!" She continued to sing, smiling as she did.
"Happy birthday Ariella!" My best friend and roommate, Everly said, as her little performance came to an end.
Everly had in her hands a breakfast tray and on that tray sat a divided plate split into three. She brought the breakfast tray over to me placed it into my lap with a hug.
"Oh Everly, that was beautiful! Thank you." I say, hugging her back, "Wooo! Three cheers for Evie and Lucky."
"Thank you, thank you. We'll be here all night!" Everly laughed, bowing with her stuffed dog -Lucky-
Everly and I have been the best of friends since high school. We also work together. I'm a landscape architect and Everly's an interior designer. I love all things nature, such as planting flowers, trees and creating gardens. Whereas, Everly loves turning houses into homes by creating a safe, trendy and comfortable environment.
"You're welcome, Ari! I know how much you love Barbie and besides, you'd do the same thing for me if it were my birthday." She commented, beaming before sitting cross legged beside me.
"I most definitely would not," I laughed, "I can't sing to save myself."
"Sure you can't." Everly tsked with a roll of her eyes.
"Here, have some." I offer, wanting to distract her from the topic at hand.
Luckily for me, it worked like a charm.
"Okay, I'll bite!" She giggled, buying the distraction. I watched as Everly grabbed a piece of waffle and popped it into her mouth "but just this once." I do the same but with a slice of pancake.
Sometimes I slip into little space without realizing, especially when I'm eating, so whenever Everly cooks for me, she cuts my food into bite sized pieces so I don't choke. Most of the time when she cuts my food up for me it's so she can eat it and won't choke.
I wasn't born to cook, I was born to hold conversations with the people who were born to cook.
Can you blame me for slipping into a little headspace though? I have a 'The Little Mermaid' plate in front of me. The Little Mermaid! There's Ariel, she's my favorite, Prince Eric, he's my favorite too! He's so dreamy. Flounder, Ooh I like Flounder he's my favorite as well! And then there's Sebastian! Who is also my favorite! So I'm expected to slip, I don't make the rules.
