After making sure the bite took and giving Isaac a quick rundown of his new status, Derek sent the two teenagers home. Samael was almost floaty on endorphins by the time he got home, still riding the feelings of gaining a new pack member. He got something quick to eat after saying goodnight to Melissa, who was almost asleep on her feet. Going to his room, he almost missed that Scott wasn't home yet.

Samael had almost drifted to sleep when he was awoken by the ringing of his phone. He almost hung up but the only people who would be calling were limited and all of them would be important if they were calling. Cursing, he picked up when he saw it was Isaac calling.

"What's wrong?"

"My- It's- my dad, he, he threw a glass at me and it-it cut me but it healed and he saw, I- I ran." Isaac said, sounding out of breath.

"Okay, just, calm down. Where are you?"

"I- At the park."

"Okay, stay there, I'm coming to get you. Just sit tight."

He practically ran out of the house after getting the address from Isaac, calling Derek as he got into his car.

"What?" Derek answered.

"Isaac called me, I'm going to go pick him up, something happened with his dad and he saw Isaac heal."

"What?!" Derek growled.

"Yeah, he didn't sound okay either. There's a diner, isn't there, that's open late?"

"Yes. I'll meet you there."

Hanging up, he took off in the rain.

...

By the time a car pulled up in front of Isaac, it had stopped raining. Samael got out of the car and took his discarded bicycle and mounted it behind his car. He jumped when Samael draped a jacket over him.

"Sorry." Samael said. "C'mon, get in, we're gonna go see Derek."

He could only nod as he gripped the jacket and climbed into the car, shuddering from the cold and fear. Isaac didn't really know where they were going, but soon enough they pulled up into a parking lot.

"Where..."

"It's the diner, it's open late but it should be relatively empty. C'mon, Derek will get here soon." Samael opened his door and exited the car.

Isaac followed him inside, still holding the jacket around his shoulders. They sat in a corner booth at the back of the room, Samael sitting in the furthest corner and lightly tugging on his arm to make Isaac sit next to him. The waitress came over and Samael asked for a pot of coffee and three mugs. Isaac took the offered drink from Samael with trembling hands, feeling slightly better once the heat from the coffee seeped into his hands.

Samael nudged him softly, "Hey, he's here."

He looked up at the door as Derek walked in, face in a frown. Isaac shrunk in his seat at the look of anger on Derek's face and froze when he slipped into the booth next to him. Now, he was squished between Samael and Derek, and instead of feeling uncomfortable or trapped, the heat radiating from both of them had him relaxing.

"What happened?" Derek asked, voice surprisingly soft.

Isaac told them what happened, ending his retelling essentially leaning on Derek's shoulder with Samael holding onto his arm.

"We'll have to do something about your father." Derek said.

"Like what?" He asked.

"I don't know yet." Derek grumbled.
