Asexuality is defined by Oxford Languages as the quality of reproducing without the fusion of gametes. Sorry I had to make a reproduction joke. While that is one of the definitions that is not the one we are here to talk about. (but I guess if you want to learn about asexual reproduction I recommend any Biology I textbook.)
The asexuality we are talking about is an umbrella term for a bunch of identities in the LGBTQIA+ community. Asexuality is defined as the lack of sexual attraction or experiencing little sexual attraction.
Sweet, big fancy words that we have the general idea of but get confused with other terms. However, worry not throughout this book I will rephrase the definition and clarify what sexual attraction is and isn't.
Okay lets take a few steps back what do we mean by "umbrella term". I like to think of an umbrella term using a text book. The text book has an overarching theme (Maths, World History, Anatomy, ect.) and inside that book their are chapters that are different from one another but all relate to the idea of the text book. In this example the textbook is the umbrella term and the chapters are the identies that fall under it.
I hoped this makes a little bit of sense. If not feel free to ask questions here and I'll do my best to answer. There will also be more chapters as I update with more information, examples, questions for allos, and memes. The next chapter will be a brief over view like this one except for aromantics.
(This is so ace of me but I really need cake right now iykyk)
