Carina huffed out a tired breath as she rode her bicycle around the town. The stars were still visibly in the sky as it was just a few minutes past 5 AM. She was used to waking up before dawn, before the bustling filled the streets. It was her way of helping her mother who would bake her infamous Lasagnas, and the younger brunette would deliver them to her customers every morning.

Carina and her mom would work really hard to provide for their small family of three; herself, her mom and her 9 years young brother, Andrea. Sadly, Andrea or as his American friends would call him, Andrew, was diagnosed with Aycanotic congenital heart defect at birth.

They were trying to save up money for his surgery, her mom working a normal wage job alongside earning a few dollars with her lasagna deliveries. Carina would take occasional shifts at their local theater, her focus mainly being on her school and studies.

Her dad had passed away when she was around the age of twelve while Andrew was only five. She remembered that day very well, one haunting call shattering their happiness with just a few words.

'Mr. Deluca has been rushed to emergency unit at Grey Sloan's.'

He was a firefighter. That day, he was trying to help and rescue everyone that was stranded inside a collapsing tunnel. A few slabs of concrete had already fallen, slamming into cars and trapping the travelers inside them. He had taken an oath to himself of saving every life on his job, and unfortunately, the oath cost him his life while he was trying to save a life of a woman and her daughter. He was successful in saving the life of only one, before the bridge collapsed.

Antonio Deluca was Carina's role model. She had vowed to herself she would be just like her father and follow his legacy of a brave firefighter when she grew up.

Carina was currently a sophomore in one of the most prestigious private school, Panorama Crest High School, in Seattle. She was an A grader all around, and even though she came from a middle class family, she managed to enroll herself in this high school via an academic scholarship. After the accident, the brunette was determined to focus on her education and pursue her vow of becoming a firefighter.

Carina sped her pedaling, the crisp air of dawn hitting her face as she continued making her way to the last house she had to deliver at.

She had a slight trouble getting to the house as this was only the second time she was delivering to this place. Now, Carina was smart, but remembering directions wasn't her best forte. She made it to her last stop and glanced at the watch on her wrist, 5:42 AM, it displayed.

She got off her bike, put the stand on and retrieved the last container kept in the basket attached to the front of the bicycle.

The Italian heard someone groan, making her look up and follow the source of the noise. Her eyes landed on a girl who stood in the balcony of the house she was delivering at, her back facing Carina.

Unknowingly, a smile crept on Carina's face as the young blonde started to recite something, her voice even though sounding distressed it had a calming effect to it. The smile was however quickly replaced, her eyes widening when she saw the blonde turn around.

"Shit," the Italian quietly muttered to herself before hastily ducking behind a bush near by, thinking that the mystery girl on the balcony had caught her staring, which was not only creepy just by itself but also the fact that there was a stranger in front of their house at the crack of dawn...wouldn't have been something easy to explain.

She breathed out a sigh of relief when she heard the voice speak again, only to continue whatever she was reciting earlier.

"A winter night sky is brighter and has larger stars than any other seasons." she heard the mellow voice speak.
