You rush through the packed cobblestone streets trying your best to weave in between the people around you, shooting an apologetic smile at those who you do bump into before hastily continuing on your way. Someone makes a comment asking where your in a hurry to after you bumped their shoulder but you pay it no mind.Your searching for someone, and while you're aware of where you will find them you can't help but impatiently rush to where you know they will be.
Eventually you stop at a small tea house, the door opens with a soft jingle from the bell and a pretty woman gives you a warm smile. You scan around the tea house until you spot who it was you were in a rush to find, tucked away in a corner drinking what you assume is some strong herbal tea is a man who is neither old nor young but has the essence of wisdom floating all around him.
Noticing you he beckons you over to him already preparing some tea for you. Sitting down across from him you take a sip the warm cup, it has a bitter taste that lingers on your tongue before being replaced by a sweet and somewhat fruity flavour.
"I wasn't expecting to see you so soon after you fell asleep on me last time," he says and you feel your face go hot with embarrassment, you open your mouth to try come up with an excuse but the words die on your tongue earning a chuckle from the man as you look away to hide your reddening face.
"I am merely teasing you, I take no offence," he assures although it does nothing to relieve your embarrassment as you remember awaking with your head on the tea table with a puddle of drool. "Now then, what brings you here?" he asks taking a sip from his tea.
"Demon slayers."
His eyes widen as he's caught of guard but quickly regains composure watching the tea in his cup swirl, it takes a while before he says anything and you can't help but frown after all you were sure he of all people would have the answers you're looking for.
He finishes his cup of tea thinking carefully over his words, "I will admit I was not expecting you to ask me about that," he starts and you eyes light up with anticipation, of course he knew about Demon slayers! "What is it you would like me to tell you?" he asks once again refilling the cups of tea.
"Everything you know!" you tell him your eyes brimming with stars, earlier that week when you had visited a nearby town you overheard two men speaking of demon slayers however when you questioned them they brushed you off leading to you seeking out the man in the tea shop.
"As long as you don't fall asleep this time," you shoot him a lighthearted glare for the comment (you doubt he will ever forget about that incident), "During my travels all over Japan I have met many Demon slayers, all with a story to be told."
The man hummed thoughtfully considering the options of stories he could tell you, "Ah i have the perfect tale to tell! Oh but first I should explain Demon slayers to you huh?" The thought of getting to share a story was so exciting to him he almost forgot that you wished to know all he knew.
"In the past Demons use to lurk in the dark nights of Japan, seeking out innocent victims to quench their insatiable hunger for human flesh," you can't help but grimace at the thought, "Not only did demons posses strength and regeneration far superior to us humans some posses a powerful ability known as a blood demon art."
"Despite the power they possessed demons had one fatal weakness, the sun." He glances towards the bright rays that shine through the windows of the tea house, "Even the gentlest sun light would cause them to disintegrate into ashes leaving behind no traces as they became apart of the wind."
Your brows knit in confusion, "How did people kill them then? Surely they had ways to protect themselves from the sun?" you ask sceptically, a familiar gleam appears in his eyes as well as a giddy grin, "That my friend, is where the Demon slayers come in."
"You see these were not regular Samurai, the blades they wielded were crafted from ore bathed in sunlight and they perfected techniques that allowed them to fight on a similar level to demons," you listened to his explanation with rapt attention hardly blinking as you were all too focused on soaking in the information.
"Now then, have you ever heard of the Kazama clan?" he asked but you shake your head curious about the story he was about to tell you. "The Kazama clan, an ancient family who served the Demon slaying corps from the very beginning however, traditionally they were not swordsmen."
"Instead they aided in communication and navigation in a rather unique way," you curiously attempted to figure out how but came up with nothing and looked towards the man expectantly awaiting his explanation. "The family was blessed with a unique connection to birds and used it to train highly intelligent crows who were even able to speak!"
A look of disbelief crossed your face, talking crows? Surely he was joking! Yet something in the back of your mind tells you his words were nothing but the truth, after all he was an honest man who swore he never told lies.
"Despite having been apart of the Demon slayer corps for so long not one of them decided to learn the art of the sword, of course that was until a young man by the name of Kazama Kenji sought out a master to teach him," the man closed his eyes taking a sip of his now full cup of tea, you wondered how much tea he drank in a day, before continuing with his story. "Kenji was a talented swordsman, even reaching the highest position a Demon slayer could!"
"However this story is not about Kenji."
"Rather it is about his son, Kazama Seiji."
——
i've never tried this writing style so i'm not sure how good it is but i think it's an interesting way to tell a story so tell me how you guys feel about it.
anyways just a small disclaimer! first if your looking for something centred around romance this is not the place to be i'm afraid although there will be hints of it but i don't think they will be easy to spot. second i have actually never written a male main character but i love my crow boy so we're doing it. third this will contain spoilers for probably both the manga and anime (why would you read it if you aren't caught up?)
and that's it i think? also i am horrible at editing and half the time do it after the chapter is posted so please point out my mistakes (just be polite or i'll probably cry).
