Two big men sat facing each other, with a warm campfire in between. Night had fallen and many where asleep. These fellows sat up, conversing with each other.
"I heard extinction is upon them. Hunting has really picked up in the last years." One of the men carried on. His silver-gray beard reflected the campfire. The atmosphere around the fire was much warmer compared to the rest of the forest.
"That's what I heard also. The skin and scales are going at very high rates at the moment. Hunters are now traveling even farther just to make one kill."
These men where obviosly traveler's, mechants who bought and sold things in towns they happened to pass. They where enjoying company of one another since traveling could get rather lonely.
"The prices in Boxerton City have reached the top of the castle!" The man with the beard paused as he took a bite of what appeared to be chicken. "Of course, I'm no adventurer. Slayer's are surely getting more than they should though."
The second man, a younger man with dark hair, nodded in agreement. "That is agreed. I'm glad the species is being done away with. I can't help but fear for my life everytime I hear a noise while travelling."
The man with the beard almost nodded, but his time was cut short. Off in the distance, a shrill and non-human scream sounded.
The men didn't even bother with their belongings, they both took off in a rush in what was the opposite direction. The younger man quickly outran the older one, and didn't stop to catch a breath until the lights of a village where in sight. He propped himself against a tree and breathed heavily, hoping the pain in his ribs would go away quickly.
Without warning, the stars disappeared. The almost silent sound of air being sliced was clear. Thinking didn't seem to be in the man's capabilty at the moment, and he took off in a blind sprint in the direction he was facing.
Less than two minutes later his guts where being spilled by a beast larger than life itself.
