The Grey and The Asleep

I looked towards Sky, in the midst of my drawing, pausing. She looked upset at herself, glaring at the floor as if it had done a horrid crime or something.

'Why can't you defeat the evil yourself, no offence or anything,' I asked softly as to not scare or further down her emotions, to a now seemingly vulnerable person right next to me.

'I can't... I can't go and fight the evil, it's just I'm not strong enough for that and I've just been trapped here for so long I just want to help the people suffering out there. All I am is just having to watch people suffer from this and I can't do anything about it.' She started to cry into her knees, hurriedly wiping tears using her shirt. I reached out to her and patted her on the back, not wanting to push on further. I just stayed silent while switching between looking at her crying and looking away to give her some privacy. To think that she would suffer this much in the little time I draw her to now.

Suddenly I felt a force going against my hand to see that she had fallen asleep. Putting down my sketchpad and pencil, I put her in a more comfortable position. I was now unmotivated to keep on drawing so I focused more on thinking about what I was going to do now. Should I leave her to sleep or stay by her incase she cries again or suffers again after seeing people suffer, unable to do anything.

I decided to look around more, taking the bag off my shoulder and leaving it on the ground after putting all the things I pulled out of it back into the bag and stood up to look around the grey area. It felt empty to look around and all would still be just grey. I stretched out my hand to the greyness and nothing. Nothing happened. Nothing was there for me to grab just plain air. It kind of felt surreal and felt like a dream honestly being lost in a dream of grey. I slowly walked a few steps and turned to look at Sky, still sleeping away. I noticed that as I was walking I wasn't getting further away from my bag and seemed to be walking in place. It seems that the place had a limit to where I could go, maybe this is how Sky found me in the first place.

I decided to walk back to my bag, sat back next to Sky and grabbed the sketch pad and pencil to finish my drawing. It was a jungle with all the trees and a small swamp being surrounded by the trees and the vines linking the trees together. I wasn't thinking too much about it, it just was created as I was moving the pencil across the page like it just knew what I had in mind. It wasn't perfect but I liked it and would probably think it was the best drawing of my collection for a few weeks going forward.

'That's a nice drawing,' the voice from beside me said. I looked to see Sky rubbing her eyes, trying to rub away the sleepiness. I replied with thanks and turned around to see if I could improve my drawing. Sky moved closer to get a better view of the process of the drawing but wasn't close enough to be uncomfortable. I noticed that because of her napping, her hair was a little tousled but not much considering she didn't move that much in her sleep and that she didn't sleep for a long time either. She suddenly turned to face me and quietly asked 'So, have you made up your mind yet?' She looked at me with slight desperation differently to the first time she asked, as if she were only hoping for me to say 'yes' but wasn't pushy for it though. I looked towards her direction to say my official decision and said.
