CERAMICS (A SERIES)

CERAMICS
ro, 2021
(of mother and daugther)

our love is like ceramics,
mother and daughter,
it was crafted with such love.
our love is like ceramics,
it was shaped with care,
it was our own little dream-
now a living nightmare.

our love is like ceramics,
it's soft at the start.
it was shaped and changed...
but now it's hard as rock.
our love is like ceramics,
the imperfections in the kiln.
it's too late to change it-
but all the troubles were hidden within.

our love is like ceramics,
you threw it on the floor.
it shattered, it broke, but
who were you to care?
our love is like ceramic,
the shards're poison to touch,
beyond repair- it's gone through too much.

our love is like ceramics,
though discarded in a pile
i cradled it with care.
our love is like ceramics,
once strong and tall, now
damaged and shattered.

our love is like ceramics,
it's of no use to me now. hell,
i should throw it out-
but our love is like ceramics,
and i'm not strong enough.

CERAMICS [DESCANT]
ro, 2022
(a reformed friendship)

our love is like ceramics.
a subtle friendship crafted with care.
through giggles and laughs
it seemed you were always there.
childish paints slash the handle,
little bloomings of pure gold.
our love is like ceramics,
you were the friend that always quietly cared.

our love is like ceramics,
it's a bit sloppy and innocent.
we are nothing but friends.
i care for you, and you for me too.
our love is ceramics for i
was there when you needed me.

you cried, i cried. two peas in a pod
(we painted it right here).
you laughed, i laughed.
bumps and swirls, we decorated our hearts.

our love is like ceramics,
we are arm in arm.
i flutter, you do not.
green feathers decorate my side,
gold whirls on yours.

our love is like ceramics,
it broke.
we were too late.

yet you and i try to salvage it.
shattered shards, broken hearts
(of mine and less of yours).
shattered shards of broken hearts
(shouts and fights. ignoring the other relentlessly).

our love is like ceramics,
because the shards are
scattered on the floor.
mismatched memories
that were once mine and yours.

but you and i cradle them,
we glue them back together with care.
soft pink blushes decorate where you touch-
but to tell you i wouldn't dare.
they're still there,
a distant but fond memory
for me to one day share.

our love is like ceramics,
i don't think i'll throw it out.
you walked me home, i walked to yours.
our love is like ceramics,
i think it'll always be there.

rosie speaks!

descant in music means something
sang or played over another. i wanted
to choose reprise but this doesn't really
feel like something dang after but more
with it like a comforting harmony.

(which makes me sound way smarter than
i am)

to the friend who always cared (even
if you never said it much):

thank you.
