"So, Chosen One," Jasyn mocks at me. I didn't like the way Chosen One rolled off his tongue, almost like my body wanted it be a different voice. I shrugged the weird feeling off and glared at him. "Tell me, does your powers just work like a farmer?"

"What? Nothing you said made sense just now, what are you trying to even ask?" Like a farmer, what does that even mean?! I wanted to laugh at how ridiculous he sounded. He huffed and pouted. "It made perfect sense to me."

"Of course it did," I rolled my eyes. "but I don't speak 'Jasyn', translate please."

He sighs, "How does your powers work? Can you just grow produce and plants as a means for resources or," He dragged the word out eying me. I matched his energy for him to continue. "Or, can you use it as like defense?"

"Defense?" I asked, thrown off guard, "you mean like fighting?"

He nods face, "Yes! Can you use your powers for fighting?"

"Um, I'm not sure." I said, absentmindedly. Can I? "I never had a reason to so I never tried." His face was lighting up by the second. "I wouldn't even know where to start!" The boy was practically bouncing in place. "Jas, you're going to make your own personal earthquake."

He stops, but his face was pleading, "can we test my theory? Can we, please?" Is he resorting to being now, geez! He's like a kid who wants more candy. Though, it couldn't hurt to try, I'd be better equipped to protect myself. I eye Jasyn, it was capable of holding his own in a fight but he wasn't skilled due to the fact that no one in our village was a fighter, more of runners. Regardless of that, Jasyn has always worked in the field so he wasn't exactly a chopstick, far from it, I'd hate admire- admit, I mean! Shit, why am I thinking at a time like this. I shake my pesky thoughts away, and sigh. I brace myself for the burst of emotion I was afraid of receiving and nodded.

His eyes grew big, it was like he thought I would decline, maybe I should, I haven't really learnt how to control my powers, just compress them, this could end badly, but what is a better time to learn than the circumstances I'm in right now. "What should I try to do?" He begins to look around us, "Oh, vines! Use them like a whip!"

"A whip?! Geez, can't I start smaller than that?" I was nervous to say the least, more than I'd care to admit. "Uh, what about tossing a rock."

"Tossing a rock?! What are you five?" He mocks me, I glare, and find the first small rock I find and concentrate, I take a quick breath and feel the rock rise. It was like there was a bond connecting me and that rock together in my veins. I could feel my power move like water as the rock bobs in the air. It was like pushing a leaf in the water. Testing out my own theory, I push that rock forward and it sucker punches Jasyn in the stomach, he doubles over, with a mixture of coughing and laughing. I rush over to him, worried. "I'm sorry, are you okay?! I didn't think it would work!"

He looks up at me, that same excited look only stronger. "It worked, Rhiannon! Imagine everything you could do! Go on, try the vine." He nods towards a vine wrapping down the trunk of a tree not far from my right. "Fine," I say, "But you need to watch out, I don't know if I'll be able to control this." He nods matching my seriousness. I take a deep breath, and began again, this time I outstretched my arm in the direction of the vine. I push my concentration towards the vine and I began to unwrap it from the trunk of the tree. I started out slow, I could feel Jasyn silently burning with anticipation behind me.

I bring the vine into an almost straight line and imagine a short wave crashing onto the shore, and just like that the vine did the same motion, but a very tiny snap at the end of it. I turn to Jasyn and was shocked to see his face had fallen. "That's it? That wasn't a whip, it was just a jiggle." He rolled his eyes. "I know you can do better than that." I glared at him, his unexpected reaction pissed me off. I snap my head back at the vine and I shove all my frustration with all my might into the vine. It snaps back and hits the tree with such force, a loud sound echoed the forest and a deep crack surfaced on the trunk of the tree. I was breathing hard when I dropped the vine, releasing the bond. My head was dizzy, and I stumbled back a little. Jasyn jumps toward me, holding me steady.
