That boy was in my mind on and off all week. I haven't seen him since then, but you know, I kept hoping that I'd see him again.
Still, I couldn't avoid school. It was after classes, and right now I was sitting in the same spot I saw him, only today I was not alone.
"Where's Anthony anyway? I told him to meet us here. I've got lots to talk about."
Kara, my loud friend, is tall, tanned, and a dark-haired beauty that hangs out with me. I liked her company; she talks, I listen. There was never the pressure of having to answer to social protocol and talking about what I ate this morning, or what I saw on the way at school, or if I spotted a cute boy. In which in this case, I did, but I'm not gonna blab about that. It just felt...personal. The memory was mine to keep.
I shrugged. "Maybe he got caught up in something."
"Like what? Like that chick he flirted with yesterday?" She rolled her eyes.
Basically, she's into him.
"I mean, if he wanted some time with that skank then maybe he should've told us! Not making us wait for him like two idiots sitting at a staircase." She continued on.
"Hey, maybe he--"
"I'm really gonna kick his ass! That manwhore!"
"Geez Kara, stop--"
"And after that, I'm going to eat the burrito he likes so much in front of him and make him suffer!"
"All I said was 'maybe'." I muttered.
But she straightened up right away when we caught sight of Anthony's figure making way at us.
He waved at us. "Hey guys! Sorry for the wait."
When he sat with us, Kara looked at him expectantly. "So?"
"So what?" Anthony replied.
"Why did you make us wait?"
I rolled my eyes.
He said, " Why would you wanna know?"
"For no particular reason. Really. Just curious."
"Riiiight."
"So?"
"So what?"
I cut in. "Oh for burrito's sake just answer her you big duffus!"
They both looked at me, surprised at my outburst. "Alright. Mr. Wright wanted me to catch up at my lessons. I wasn't paying to his class, obviously, and made me do a few essays. Is she on a PMS?" Anthony told her that last part, as if I wouldnt hear.
I ignored them and Kara started her gossip rituals.
My thoughts drifted off, and my eyes kept wandering and looking...
I had no idea what I was looking for.
