"Hey, are you listening to me?... Acacia? Someone distracted?" Nate asked, throwing a marshmallow at Acacia's forehead.
Snapping back into reality, Acacia slowly turned her head to glare at her boyfriend. "Really? A marshmallow?"
"You're distracted... I didn't know how to get your attention. What's wrong?" He asked, squeezing Acacia's hand. She could feel the butterflies in her stomach. Nate was the only person who made her nervous. He was the only person she couldn't control her feelings in front of; no matter how hard she tried to mask them. She looked at his face: his messy brown hair and hazel eyes.
"I'm just...thinking," she admitted, nervously looking down at her twirling thumbs.
Acacia's POV:
I keep losing concentration of the real thread of reality. I mean I know I'm always right but there's something bugging me that's telling me otherwise. Everyone is so sure it's true but it just seems so stupid! I'm so wrapped up in this supernatural stuff that I'm not even thinking about Nate...Nate!My mind snaps back into reality as I look at Nate who is wearing an irritated expression on his face.
"I'm so sorry! I'm messing up everything and completely ignoring you..." I sigh, running my hands through my hair.
Walking with different crowds definitely had its consequence. The choices we made meant that we barely had time to talk to one another let alone go on dates. We'd been friends since middle school, where our friendship had turned into something more. But by the time we reached high school, he chose the jocks (and popularity) whilst I chose to blend in with the rest of the student body. By college, it just continued.
"Are you angry with me?" I managed to whisper after an awkward silence.
"No..." Nate sighs after another minute of silence. "I mean, when you're free, I'm busy and when I'm free, you're busy so we always have to change plans. I can tell you're supposed to go somewhere so..."
"I guess you're right." I try to muster a smile. "Well my birthday is in five days so I promise we'll do something then. But for now, I have to go."
"What is it you're supposed to be doing anyway?" Nate asks.
"Just some meeting about our electives and stuff..." I mutter. I am not about to tell anyone the truth because I don't even believe it myself. I kiss Nate on the cheek and walk out the campus coffee shop to the meeting where my unanswered questions can be evaluated.

"Bellum de Terra." Mr Smith states, writing the words on a blackboard in the school's old library.
"What's that?" Jorge asks, scratching his neck.
Acacia, Reetan, Neysha, Maiah sad Jorge were all sat cross legged on the floor in the library.
"It's Latin for 'War of Earth'" Mr Smith answers.
"Why do we need to know that?" Acacia challenges, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well it's about your past, your ancestors...and why you're here. You see, due to the choices and actions of your ancestors, history will repeat itself every five thousand years." Mr Smith could feel confusion run among the students and smiled.
"Let me explain. At the beginning of time, the earth wasn't ruled by man as we know it but by ' the illusio', also known to us as the illusionists. They lived in the molten magma of the earth which is now beneath us. Humans served them until the rebellion of man came, when we realised we were stronger and larger in number. Due to this, the illusio were banished from the earth and left to another galaxy next to our Milky Way. Of course, they swore to return to wipe out the human race altogether. And they did return, but not only with the intention of destroying mankind but also the earth's life and beauty.
