Optimus' promise is broken, now the two mechs have to pick up the pieces after Bumblebee's near-death experience, and now must come to terms with his injuries and disability.

All Bumblebee could feel was burning, his whole body felt like it was on fire as it struggled to keep him awake. His leg felt like it was being stabbed by tiny pins and needles and the burning wouldn't go away, but his throat and face felt worse. He kept trying to scream and cry but all that came out was static and gargled gasps, but he kept screaming; calling out for help that he wasn't even sure was coming. He cried for Optimus, for Cliffjumper, for anyone to come and find him.

Finally, he heard a voice over his comms, " Bumblebee. Report. Come in. Engagement over here. Decepticons have retreated. Please advise your location." Ironhide's voice crackled in. Bumblebee tried to respond but all that came out was static again. His eyes began to blur as the darkness of sleep took him over, the last thing he heard being, "Bumblebee report!"

His mind and body kept taking him in and out of consciousness. He remembered the sounds of crackling flames, then overwhelming silence only broken by his own gasping and wheezing, then soft footsteps. Soon, the footsteps began thundering louder and louder in his ears, then there was someone speaking, someone was standing over him. He cried out to them, to him, it had to have been Optimus. He cried out for his caregiver and for safety before passing out again.

Optimus had felt pride in what he and his team had succeeded in. However, that pride turned to worry when Ironhide ran up to him when he arrived at the base.

"Optimus, Bumblebee hasn't reported in yet." He said in a hushed voice as he and the Prime walked down a crowded hallway.

"Have you attempted to contact him in any way? He may have become distracted with something." The Prime responded, giving his sparkling the benefit of the doubt. He was one to get focused on the wrong thing and end up off track. Ironhide nodded.

"I've already attempted to contact him multiple times. I even asked other members of our mission when they had seen him last." That had made the Prime's spark feel as if it had skipped a beat. "Cliff was the last one to see him but hadn't seen him a long while before he stopped checking in. We have some soldiers tracking his location as we speak."

"Thank you, Ironhide. Please, keep me updated." He spoke as the smaller bot nodded and walked away to go and refuel. ' He will be fine. He most likely became distracted. He will return home soon. ' The Prime smiled to himself as he walked into another room.

A cycle had gone by before the Prime had heard any news on the missing scout, and what he heard wasn't good news. Bumblebee had been found in a crater, created by some kind of explosive, coated in his own Energon, his wounds apparently so severe to the soldiers who found him, that they couldn't describe them accurately on their comms.

The Prime felt sick as he made his way to the Medbay, looking down at his peds to see a trail of Energon leading to the main entrance. A crowd of bots had surrounded the door, whispering, and mumbling amongst themselves.

"Did you see him?! "

"Primus help him. "

"Poor kid, " they whispered as they tried to get a look inside, scattering quickly when the Prime had walked towards them, allowing him access to the Medbay before crowding the door again.

"Optimus," Ratchet had greeted as he and another Medic frantically moved around the room, gathering different medical tools and supplies. " If you haven't heard, Bumblebee is wounded, heavily so." He explained as he attempted to clean Energon off the small bot's face.
