Chapter 8: Awakening of the Immortal

"You did it, Straw Hat!"

"You got Ace back!"

Sakura acknowledged that all credits should go to Luffy. He really took the lead and did everything in his power to save Ace. She threw that victory hat to Luffy. In the end, she didn't save Ace, he did.

"Don't get thrown back! Resume fire immediately! Aim for their trajectory!" The marines reloaded their weapons.

"Stay sharp, Luffy! Let's take 'em all out!" Ace warned, throwing Luffy away from him and he, in return, let go of her waist. It was time for them to take care of their enemies.

Flames licked Ace's tips to his forearms, he swerved his whole body in flames then shot it all down, extending it to the area.

The amount of smoke we inhaled can do brain damage. Sakura thought sarcastically as the whole place lit up. She handled the slight vibration her bones made once they landed. The third guy, unfortunately, fell on his face.

"They are strong! Be careful!" The were in the middle of the fiery circle, with Ace in the center, Luffy on the left while Sakura on the right. The other guy just stayed behind them.

"Can you fight, Luffy?" Ace asked, his head had fire streaks but they weren't burning his hair. It was an interesting, irrelevant information Sakura couldn't help but note.

"Of course I can! What about you Sakura?" She could tell from Luffy's breathing that he was reaching his ends but he was too stubborn to admit.

"I'll tell you this but I haven't gone full strength yet." Sakura remarked, hoping they would get out of here safe without having to use it until the end. She wanted to save it for Kaguya if she managed to find a way home.

"Are you serious?" Both brothers were curious about what other skills she had under her belt.

"Fire Fist Ace is made of fire! He is a Logia Type!" The marine loud intrusion had Sakura pause in thought. Wait a minute, of course he IS logia! It means I can't touch him either! Wow. So now Ace is stronger than her. The list of people were increasing.

"I never even dreamed that day would come when I would get saved by you. Thanks, Luffy." It was a rare praise Ace gave, considering it always been the opposite for many years.

Feeling bashful, Luffy wiped his finger under his nose in sheepish. "It's all because that old Whitebeard guy and his men helped me out."

"Okay guys, you are forgetting we are supposed to, I don't know, escape?" Sakura didn't want to cut through that happy moment but the marines were ready to kill them.

"Don't think you're safe just yet! This is your execution stand!" They fired rapidly, the bullets passed through Ace, they bounced off Luffy while Sakura used earth jutsu to cover herself.

"Now! Take them down!" The marines tried to take advantage of the interval but Ace pushed both Luffy's and Sakura's head down, forcing them to couch as he did a handstand. The swords from both sides passed through Ace's logia body.

"He's my little brother and she's my little savior. I'd like you to back off." Luffy backflipped, bouncing Ace, giving him the push he need to reposition, sending a fire fist at the marines.
