"I don't want you anymore."
(C/n)'s words shattered my heart, I didn't know what I had done wrong. "Baby, please," I begged. "I-I can make it up to you, I promise!" She shook her head, taking off her ring and placing it on the table. The ring I gave her, the ring I proposed to her with. Without another word, she walked out the front door.
Her car started in the driveway.
I jolted up in bed, still disconcerted and shaken from the nightmare. I felt a warm hand gently rub my arm. "You okay?" (c/n) mumbled, sleepily. I was still trying to remember what reality was and what it wasn't. (C/n) is in bed next to me, the clock on the nightstand says 3:49 am, this is real. I'm awake. I breathed steadily, still trying to calm down. (C/n) sat all the way up, rubbing my back. "(Y/n), what's wrong? Are you alright?"
I nodded and gulped, "Yeah, just a nightmare." (C/n) wrapped her arms around me, running her fingers through my hair.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, still groggy, but trying to stay awake for me. "You wanna stay up?"
I thought for a moment before shaking my head, "No, it's okay. Let's go back to sleep." I didn't want to relive it, and I didn't want to steal anymore sleep from (c/n). I laid back down, pulling (c/n) tightly into my arms as though I would lose her. She was still here, with me, still in love. We've been married for about two years, no kids just yet, and all the words that hurt me were just in a dream, not reality. Ugh, but it's still going to take a while to get to sleep now.
"Mmph," (c/n) mumbled in her sleep. She nuzzled her face into my chest, cuddling up to my warmth. She was so adorable. I brushed her hair out of her face, kissing her cheek and leaning my chin against her head. I could smell her shampoo, she had showered before bed. Everything was okay, I was here with (c/n).

"Good morning, sweetie," (c/n) came up behind me and kissed my cheek. She wrapped her arms around my waist. "You're up early."
"I had trouble sleeping," I explained, sipping my coffee.
"The nightmare?" she asked.
"Yeah."
(C/n) sat on the kitchen counter, "Wanna talk about it?" I figured I should tell her. I poured her a glass of juice, I hadn't started breakfast yet.
"You were mad at me," I started. "I'm not sure why, but I kept apologizing to you, again and again. But you didn't want to hear it," I paused. "You took off your wedding ring and left."
(C/n) placed her glass beside her, jumping down from the counter to hug me. "It's okay, honey," she softly brushed her palm against my cheek. "It was just a nightmare." I wrapped an arm around her, she was wearing her silk nightgown. She never wore it in bed, we both slept naked, but she would wear it around the house on lazy days. The fabric felt so smooth, I set my coffee on the counter next to her drink so that I could have both arms around her.
"I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you," I mumbled into her shoulder.
She ran her hands through my hair, whispering softly, "You never will."
"What if I screw up and do something bad?"
"Then I would find a way to forgive you."
"What if I screw up really, really bad?"
"Then you would probably beat yourself up more than I ever could," she laughed. "You're blaming yourself for something you didn't even do, and you're not even sure what that something is." (C/n) stepped back, her arms still draped over my shoulders. "I've had nightmares too. I know they're scary and they take a while to forget. But I'm here." She pulled me down, pressing her lips to mine, softly.
I'm here.
My fears melted away with (c/n)'s kiss. She wasn't going anywhere, and neither was I, because I love her more than anything else in this world and I know she feels the same. In the middle of this perfect moment, my stomach made the loudest growl I had ever heard it make. My face must have been bright red, (c/n) couldn't contain her laughter. "We should get breakfast started," I casually mentioned.
"Pancakes?" she laughed.
"Pancakes sound good." (C/n) got the pancake mix out of the pantry as I looked through the lower cupboards for a pan.
