Noah had insisted very persistently on giving me a ride to the concert I had agreed to go to, despite the fact that I had told him multiple times that my dads wouldn't mind dropping me off at the venue.
That led to my parents meeting him for the first time, which wasn't something I particularly had in mind, but I didn't give it much thought either.
I was just about to be finished with my makeup when the doorbell rang. I skipped down the stairs to the ground floor and made my way to the entrance, with my dads following behind me.
"Hi Mr. and Mr. Moore." Noah chose to acknowledge my parents first when I opened the front door. His lips curved upwards into a wide, childish smile - one that I already knew so well -, as he looked between my dads.
His outfit choice for tonight was pretty similar to his choice for the bonfire - just jeans and a t-shirt, which had the name of the band we were seeing tonight. I, on the other hand, went for a black sleeveless top to match my jeans and of course, my black leather jacket.
"Hey! Noah, right?" Gavin questioned, his voice sounding a little bit squeaky, more than he intended to.
Way to be cool, dad.
"Noah, yes." He agreed with one, firm nod of his head, before shoving his hands into the front pockets of his jeans, rocking back and forth in his heels. "How are you two?"
"We're good. Come in!" Jack offered him a smile and I got the hint to slide to the side of the entrance, allowing him to walk inside. "And you can just call us Gavin and Jack."
After ignoring me for the whole conversation, Noah put his hand on my shoulders and smiled once I'd closed the door behind him.
"Hi, you. Ready for the best night of your life?"
There it was: that goofy, wide, infectious smile that seemed to be impossible to wipe off his face.
There was something about Noah and the way he lived life. If I had to guess, I'd say it has everything to do with what he'd told me at the bonfire. I recalled his words - You only live once -, and I was immediately brought back to what Chloé had pointed out about me the other day at the beach, that I was starting to sound a lot more like him.
His positive and wholesome energy was so damn contagious. I've lived all my life surrounding myself with negativity, and after Noah waltzed into my life, he infected me with his goofy smiles, kind eyes and good vibes.
His brown orbits looked into my blue ones, his eyes smiling just as much as his lips, and I found myself mirroring his expression.
"I am ready. We'll just have to see about that last part."
"Can we get you anything? Water? Lemonade?" Gavin asked while Jack was already following him into the room, carrying a tray with at least four different drinks.
"Uh, I'll take some water, yeah." Noah searched for the glass with the transparent drink and picked it up to his plum lips, taking a long sip before smiling at my dads. "Thank you."
"So, Zoey tells us you're seeing Red Hot Chili Peppers tonight?"
"Yeah!" Noah's enthusiasm started to kick in, I could tell just by the glint in his eyes. "It's one of my favorite bands. You like them too?"
"Well..." Jack started, looking a bit flustered, not knowing how to start, and I had to keep in a laugh. "They're not really our type of band, but we like them enough." Noah nodded. "You know, just the hit songs. My sister, Harper's mom, is actually a huge fan of theirs. She's a real rock and roll enthusiast."
"Ah, cool." Noah said as he looked between us all. "Harper's gonna fit right in."
"So, um... we should probably get going, no?" I asked and Noah nodded in agreement after glancing at the time displayed in the watch dangling on his wrist.
