Chapter 2: Iron Age

On her second day since she ran away from her home village, Karenna decided to look for food. She found oak trees and tried to get apples from them. She never questioned how oak trees could reproduce with both apples and acorns, but after she failed to get as many apples as she would have liked, she gave up on that, though she planted the saplings of the oak trees. She found an actual apple tree, cut it down after chopping with an ax for a long time, and harvested apples. She planted two of the many apples. For some reason, even though the fruit was sweet due to resources being dedicated to that, the seeds in the apples were still good enough to grow new apple trees.

She had stolen crops from the village, and she saw that some of them attracted animals. Noticing sheep that all had white wool, she killed four of them for their wool and mutton, seeing many more. She used some of her red dye on the wool of two more and killed them, too. She went back to her home and made a bed and a sleeping bag, the latter a component of the adventure backpacks.

Realizing that she was running out of storage space, Karenna made a chest to put things in. As she left, she decided to put a walls and a door around the mine she had created and made a waypoint to it from the outside.

She went into her mine and made a central mine shaft that she could access from the surface. She made it deep enough to reach the top layer of layerstone separating Mai from Pyrony, making that the bottom of her mine. She had collected quite a lot of coal along the way, so she turned it into torches to light it up as it went further down.

She decided to "branch mine" which was both easy and simple. She started with a main branch after climbing back up to a higher level because what she was after now, iron, could be found just as much on higher levels than some other ores as it could on lower levels. She made a platform out of cobblestone at that level so she would not fall. She also made a waypoint to the iron level.

She found more than enough iron for what she needed, which were a helmet, a chest plate, leggings, boots, a sword, a mace, an iron pickax, an iron bucket, and two fluid tanks for the adventure backpack. She had enough cobblestone to make two more furnaces, which she did once she got back to her home. Back there, she also made the iron things she wanted to, with the exception of the fluid tanks because they needed glass, something she didn't have access to due to not knowing where sand, needed to make glass, was.

It was nighttime, so enemies were everywhere. She went to bed while optimistic about her future...
