He had all the ingredients that he needed and was well prepared to take on the task. After coming from the grocery store, Mac had gotten himself comfortable again dressing down to simply his ankle socks, basketball shorts and a tank top. He wore his favorite apron just to make himself feel more official.
This was the first time in a couple of months he was not promoting SSX and it just so happens that Eve's birthday was tomorrow. Normally he would take her out to dinner, do all that fancy mess and bring her home where they'd do their nightly ritual of love making but this year he wanted it to be different.
Eve's birthdays weren't really just a day, she celebrated it in weekends. Right now she was out with Freya... Well... She was always out with Freya, but they were doing their birthday girl thing and Tane may or may not be with them. They would be discussing all the things they were going to do on the upcoming weekend, JUST to celebrate Eve's birthday like a national holiday. Mac rationalized that the only alone time they'd have together would be tonight as tomorrow would be spent drunk and passed out on the floor.
He wanted to bake her a cake.
He hadn't baked a cake in a couple of years so he made sure he was extra careful with how he proceeded. He double checked to make sure he had all the ingredients, since he had decided to make the cake from scratch instead of the quick box way. Everything was accounted for and he had roughly an hour to get it all done before Eve came home.
After cranking up the gangster rap music playing out of the speakers of the penthouse to full volume, Mac prepared the oven, greased the pans and sat his bowl to the side to make the butter cream frosting. As he cracked open the eggs into the bowl, Mac suddenly found himself in his own cooking show.
"BAM! TWO EGGS, BITCHES!" He shouted in the kitchen, "Now what you want to do is take 2 cups of unsifted flour and poooouuuuurrrr!" He said.
"Look at that beauty!"
With precision, he took his ingredients and mixed them together in the bowl. He grabbed the giant plastic mixing spoon and whipped them together until it was all soft and creamy. He walked around the penthouse singing and rapping obnoxiously as he mixed.
He had found himself singing to Eve's Fugie CD, "Killing me sooooooooooffffttlllyyy—" Except now his phone was ringing, surprisingly he could hear it over the loud cooing of Lauryn Hill. He made his way back to the kitchen, picking it up off the island.
It was Ty.
"Yo" He answered, placing the phone between his ear and shoulder as he poured the batter into separate pans.
"Heyyy buddy watcha doin?" Ty sounded a little over enthusiastic.
"I'mmmm...chillin around, sup?"
"Well, I bumped into Tane and the girls and Tane gave me a little present that I'd hate to smoke by myself"
Mac could imagine Ty shaking the small bag of marijuana, just by his voice. It was tempting, it was very tempting but if he smoked, he'd be so high he'd probably forget about the cake. Especially any kind of Mary Jane coming from Tane.
"Ayyyyee, you want to smoke now?" He asked, placing the pans in the pre-heated oven.
"If you're free. If not, we can do it later." Ty answered.
Mac knew Ty, when Ty wanted to smoke, he wanted to smoke right then and there and 'later' wouldn't happen.
"Nahhh it's Eve's birthday tomorrow and-"
"You mean Eve's birthday weekend." Ty corrected.
"Yeah, weekend and yeah we're gonna be–"
"Bow chicka wow wow" Ty teased.
