"So I'll come and pick you up tonight at seven?" confirmed Austin.
"Of course babe! Where are we going?" I blush.
"It's a surprise, cupcake."
"Alright, I'll see you later," I tell him giving him a tight hug and then hop into my silver Volvo.
I sweep my long brown hair behind my ears and put the car in reverse to drive out of the parking lot of my school for summer break, and then I set my hazel eyes on the winding road.
I'm a senior in high school and I guess I'm in the stereotype of a popular girl, with rich parents, a nice car, nice clothes, and a super hot boyfriend. It actually gets exhausting at times to be honest. It's nice to have so many friends, but if I show up at school in just a tank top and sweatpants, talk gets around the whole damn school.
When I get home, I throw my backpack on the floor in its usual spot and then go to the kitchen to get a snack. After that, I decide to go on my social media accounts, not Facebook though, I never use that.
I lost track of time because when I look at the clock again, it reads 4:30. I head into my spacious room and start to get ready for my date with Austin.
I step into the cool shower and feel the water brush over every part of my body. When I step out, the air is freezing and I instantly reach for my towel.
Once I'm done getting ready for my date, I feel like I made the right outfit choice, just a casual floral sundress and some black flats.
At 7:00 I hear my doorbell ring and I open the door to see.. my mom.
I look down disappointed, "Hi baby girl," says my mom, "you okay? You look upset."
"No, um, I'm actually going out with Austin tonight and he was supposed to be here just a minute ago."
"Oh, well don't worry sweetheart, he'll be here, he's probably just running a little late."
"Yeah," I agree, and then go and sit down on my family's leather couch in the living room. I turn on Gossip Girl while I'm waiting for Austin to get here. After one episode, he's still not here and I breathe out.
One hour later, I hear my doorbell ring once again. Great, it's probably my dad this time, I reach for the doorknob and I see that it's surprisingly Austin.
I give him a fake ass smile and he notices right away, "Babe, I'm sorry, I just had family problems going on and everything."
"Kay."
"Skylar..."
"No, to be honest, I don't really wanna go out."
"Baby, I'm sorry."
"Kay."
"Skylar! Don't play that game with me, you know I hate when you do that."
"Yeah, right, and I hate when you're late, but I guess we don't get everything we want, huh?"
"Stop Sky."
"Stop telling me to stop."
"Cupcake, it was family problems, and I should have called you and told you that I would be late and that's where I'm at fault."
"Wow Austin, are you realizing your mistakes now? That'a a first."
"Whatever Skylar, I'm leaving."
"Fine, goodbye."
Then as quick as lightning, Austin walks back to his car and quickly drives away. I slam the front door and storm into my room. My mother stops me.
