An introduction to Carolyn Michaels

Has been around the Curtis boys and their family for years.
Has been a close friend to Darry, Soda, and Pony since before their parents passed.
Darry and Carolyn, or 'Care' as he calls her went to school together. He was the popular kid. While she could also hold her own in social situations it was nothing like the reputation Darry held.
Prologue
Carolyn Michaels is the only child of Nancy and Richard Michaels. Her parents weren't wealthy by any means. They struggled to get food on the table and to pay the bills. But they were not lacking in love. Carolyn grew up with worries, by the time she was 16 she had a part-time job waiting tables at the local diner. She finished high school with pretty high grades. Unfortunately due to money struggles, she wasn't able to go to college, not that she wanted to.
In her senior year of high school, her mother got sick, they still don't know exactly what caused it. It ended up taking her mother from her, which left her father and her alone. They didn't have a lot of families that lived near them. So it was just them. After she graduated she took on a full-time position at the diner. But when that wasn't enough to help her father with the bills she then got a second job at a local bar. Thankfully her looks helped her land the job and if anyone asked she was 21.
When in school she made friends easily. Some who seemed to stick around and be true friends were the Curtis boys. Darry and Carolyn were thick as thieves all through school. She would go over to the Curtis house and hang with the boys and help their mother out with cooking sometimes. When their mom and pop passed, Carolyn found herself spending more and more time there. Eventually, after the years of their friendship, Darry asked Carolyn to date him. And she happily agreed. She had feelings for him for years but never thought that he returned the same feelings for her.
Carolyn was there for the Curtis boys when their parents passed. She held pony as he sobbed into her shoulder at the hospital. Soda confided in her when he needed to talk about anything and everything. Especially when he had to drop out of school to help with the bills. And Darry was strong infront of his brothers and the rest of the gang. But when he and Carolyn would go to bed his body would shake as he sobbed. She would hold him close to her chest and run her fingers through his hair.
Carolyn's dad soon passed from overworking himself at his job. Once he was gone and all of the affairs of the home their family once shared were taken care of Carolyn moved into the Curtis house with the boys.
When she first met the gang they almost immediately accepted her into the group. She quickly became a supportive motherly figure to them all. The only boy that took some convincing was Dallas, he didn't believe that there was anyone good left in the world. And definitely, no one would be there for him and his friends in their time of need.
