chapter one

a/n: i haven't wrote in a while. i rarely have the confidence to post anything if I'm honest so this is a big step for me. with that, please enjoy.

you're new to the apex games, the whole idea of it was quite, what's the word... strange? you felt honored to become a legend but at the same time didn't understand why you were chosen. is that just a self problem? probably.

"are you z'the new legend?"

a blonde-haired woman asked glancing over at your direction. her accent was cute, you just couldn't really figure out what it was immediately.

"ah, yeah."

you replied but you felt like you came off kinda rude. she obviously didn't take it that way.

"it's a pleasure to meet you! i'm wattson, you can call me natalie."

her energy made you feel more comfortable, really helped with any anxiety you had before.

"with you as well. i'm /legend name/ but if you want you can call me y/n"

she gave you a small smile.

"have you met z'the other legends yet?"

you shook your head, she was kinda the first.

"oh, i feel honored to be z'the first!! you will meet z'them all eventually."

she had her hands lowered in front of her, watching the banner in front of us change. it was the champion, well, he seemed quite cocky.

"anyone wanna take me out? come find me, i'll buy the drinks~"

your face twisted in almost second-hand embarrassment. how could one be a legend and still seem to boast like a child?

wattson didn't seem bothered by it, she heard the line multiple times before. she just gave a chuckle and mumbled.

"z'that's mirage for you."

"wh-"

you were cut off by the sudden pressure of wind hitting your face.

"let's go!"

wattson yelped, smiling as she guided us.

she landed us near two towers, there was another in a little distance.

"z'the loot here is good, don't worry."

she nodded as she opened a few supply bins, grabbing a hemlok. the skin she had was adorable, cuteness overload.

you really didn't like the idea of landing in the same tower as her since you didn't want it to seem like you were taking her loot. this was your first game though, you rather stay cautious.

your loadout was basic, a peacekeeper and car-smg ( i apologize if this isn't your favorite :(... ) you just hoped your peacekeeper wouldn't fail you at the wrong time. you've heard about the luck, getting only 9 damage with it and then 106 the next. ( 106 was because of a headshot I got with it today. )

"we should start our rotation."

wattson spoke, which caused you to finally realize the ring 'timer.' there was less than thirty seconds with a distance of 550m to go.

"i hope you like walking."

you joked out, it wasn't the best one but you laughed at it yourself.

"ooh, yes'z i do. i just get tired after an unexpected amount of travel."

wattson replied quickly. you exited the side of the tower, starting your rotation with her.

most of the walk was quiet, hearing every movement. wattson seemed to have two, uh modes? you figured them out easily, she was either talking passionately or not saying much at all.

the meters of distance started decreasing. this left both of you at turbine, which seemed to be somewhat near the middle. advantage? you hope so.

wattson and you rested near the top, on guard but not stressed. she gave a little giggle as you glance over, she was leaving a green dino like thing.

"what is that?"

she glanced over with a smile

"my nessie! it'z a plush!"

you went closer, it had the sweetest face.

"why are you leaving it here?"

she gave a small shrug.

"to let z'the other legends know i was here. besides, they love seeing z'them."

you opened your mouth but a response didn't come out, you thought you heard something.

"do you hear that too?"

you asked, glancing around the area.

wattson nodded, holding her interceptor. she'd like to drop it right before a battle occurs.

you watched as a figure walked on front of your direction. you aimed, is he that clueless? you thought to yourself, watching the 'champion'.

"non- no, don't shoo-"

wattson seemed frantic but you've already shot, hearing the annoying sound. BAMBOOZLED!

you fell for his trap.
