1898
The famous scientist rubbed his temple gently. Trying to calm his nerves and his beating heart.

I can..do this. I have to.

He opened his eyes, and sighed loudly. He looks worn out. His lab coat was stained with dirt and his hair is all over the place. He hadn't come out since the kidnapping took place.

I need to.

He leaned back onto his chair and looked at the time.

I only have an hour before it's too late.

He brought his eyes back to the book he had started writing a few weeks ago. He seemed not to focus enough because he was drained and stressed out.

His eyes went over to his work. It's not yet done. But he should.

He clasped his hands together and brought his forehead to his hands. And closed his eyes.

I need to focus.

He opened his eyes and looked over at the picture of his granddaughter. She's still so young...

Shaking his head slowly, he decided to work. 51 minutes left.

He needs be done at the said time. He worked his hands through the object on the table. He got his pliers and screwdriver to help him work faster. Cutting wires and screwing nails onto the object made him deduct 28 minutes. He only have 17 minutes left.

This will be done.

Suddenly, their nanny screamed and that brought his attention to the basement door. They're already here. But it's not time yet.

He frantically stood up and gathered his important things and his book. He opened the small door to a wall using a small key. He put the important things inside with his book. Then closed it using the same key.

Suddenly, the door opened. Causing a loud noise.

Three men went downstairs, causing the scientist to drop his key. It sounded with a small ting on the floor. Making one of them notice it. But hadn't mentioned it.

"Where is your work, old man." The man in the middle asked while grinning wickedly.

"It is—it is not yet done. And I have 17 minutes left." He told them. Feeling nervous.

He pushed the scientist aside with a hard force. Causing him to hit his head on the ground.

"Is this it?" He asked the scientist again, looking at him with hard eyes.

"But it is not done yet." He reasoned with them.

"Where is the book?" The same man asked. Ignoring the scientist.

"I-I do not know." He answered.

"Get it." The same man told the other man.

"Okay, sir." The man answered him, getting the object from the table.

"I told you it is not yet-" The scientist was cut off when the man that asked him, kicked him in the stomach.

The scientist grunted, coughed while spitting out blood.

The same man held his collar making the scientist more nervous.

"Where is the book?" He asked him slowly and mockingly.

"I do not know. I really do not know." He lied again. He has to. He has to hide it so that it wouldn't be on the hands of his granddaughter's kidnapper.

The man punched him in the face, making his nose bleed.

They finished what they have done. Left the scientist causing him to feel devastated. He hadn't finish his work. That means..

No. It cannot be.

He crawled up to his chair, making his body hurt and making him groan.

He searched for a pen and a paper. And started writing something.

He finished writing. But he had done what he has to. And he came with his last breath and making him to close his eyes.
