[NEW ORLEANS]

"I'm telling you Malia. I really think i've found something good about our family."

Malia sighed as she heard her sister, Hayley, plead to her over the phone. She was currently on her way to New Orleans to meet her outside of a bar.
The two young women had spent months searching for any leads or clues to the whereabouts of their family.

Malia didn't know how her sister knew to come to New Orleans and she wasn't sure she wanted to know after she mentioned it was from some guy she slept with. Charming.

"I don't know Hayley, I just don't want you getting your hopes up like you do every time.", She sighed. Malia knew how much her sister wanted to find their family but she worried this was
yet another dead end.

"I know, I know. But I'm telling you now Lia, this feels different. It feels right, you know? I really think we're gonna find something big here.", Hayley ranted down the phone. You could her the frustration and hope in her voice as she spoke. And Hayley meant every word she said to her sister at that moment. Something really did feel different about New Orleans. And the two sisters would come to find out just how different the city really is.

"Okay, okay, I'm almost there. What's the bar called again?" Malia asked as she turned down the cobblestone street in her car.

"uh, Rousseau's. I come here all the time. You'll love the gumbo." Hayley informed her sister. She had began pacing outside said bar in hopes to shake off not only the cold weather but also the nerves that were building up as her Sister drew closer.

"Okay, see you in a minute." , Malia said as she hung up the phone. She threw it on the seat beside her as she turned into the street. She could see the large sign hung outside the bar. Rousseau's.

Admittedly, the two sisters were nervous as they greeted each other and stepped into the bar. They didn't exactly know what to expect, and they didn't want to get too excited. So they walked in, expecting disappointment.

As the two girls sat down on the barstools, they caught the eye of one of the bartenders. She knew who they were, one more so than the other, and knew it was time to put her plan into action.

"This time in here this week." The bartender spoke to the sisters, aiming her comment at Hayley. She had seen the brunette come in multiple times that past week but she needed to wait for the other half before she could make a move.

"I'm obsessed with the gumbo, Jane-Anne.", Hayley replied. Malia noticed her sister seemed comfortable around the bartender but she couldn't help but feel something unsettling about the woman. Maybe it was nothing but she was going to keep an eye on her.
"The old ladies in the ninth ward say my sister, Sophie, bleeds a piece of her soul into every dish. You should try some." Jane-Anne happily replied, speaking solely towards Malia at the end.
