As I sat on the bus on the way to some new boarding school in southern Illinois that mom signed me up for, I realized what a mess my life was. In the past 8 years of my 15 years of existence, I've managed to screw up and get expelled every school year. I don't even do anything, I guess bad luck just travels with me everywhere. My mom won't have me anywhere near the house, so that's why I'm heading to yet another boarding school. I am totally fine with that, really, because I absolutely hate my step-father/demon/complete asshole, Ross. The only good thing that came out of my mom marrying Ross was my four younger siblings: Jason, Caroline, Lucy and Baby Jack. They all carry the last name Stevenson, but I don't. I carry my mom's maiden name, Jacobs, because I refuse to be associated with Ross in any way I can. And I am totally getting off track! I look to the side to see some other girl wearing the same uniform as me. "Hello," I said. "Hey," she responded. I told myself don't try to make friends because you'll be gone before you know it, but screw it. "I'm Adaline, but you can call me Addy. Everyone does." I said, shrugging and holding out my hand. She looked at my hand for a split second before returning the hand shake. "Juliet. Call me Jules, Jul, Julie, whatever I don't care." She said, smiling. She had a contagious smile, so I smiled back. She actually was really pretty, with tanned skin, brown hair and brown eyes. A big change from my red-blonde hair, super pale skin, and grey eyes. "Nice to meet you, Julie." I said, shrinking back into my seat. "Is this your first time at Dennigan?" She asked. "Yup." I said, popping the p. "Fair warning, it sucks." She said, giving me a look of sorrow. I stuck out my lip in a pouty motion, and then we both laughed. Suddenly, I felt my eyes start to droop. Julie noticed this, I guess, because she told me to get some 'shut eye' before we hit Dennigan. I smiled one last time at her, thanking her, and then fell into a fast sleep, listening to the creaks and groans of the bus.
Then, the nightmares started again.
