When I received the news, I was ashamed to say that I needed to sit down. I started to feel faint. Out of all the people in the world, I thought, why did it have to be her?
Didn't she have like, eleven boyfriends in the past two years??
I sighed and put my face in my hands. "This is unbelievable," I muttered .
Niall came over and patted me on the back. "Don't worry, lad. It's not permanent. It's just for a little while." He looked up at the two men."Er- is it permanent?" He asked.
The taller one of the men stroked his chin, thinking. "We could arrange that."
My eyes widened."No!!"
They all turned to look at me.
I cleared my throat, awkwardly. "I, uh- I mean, I don't think that'll be necessary."
The man with the sunglasses looked at me. "And why's that? We know you're up to no good, Harry Styles. You need to be tamed."
I looked at him, baffled. If I had the guts to, I would've laughed. "Do I look like some kind of wild animal to you??"
He studied me. "With that hair? Maybe a wee bit."
I huffed and flipped my hair, trying to make light of the situation. "I know, right. All the girls are dying to get a piece of me."
An awkward silence fell on us, and I blushed.
"Like Niall was saying," I said, gesturing wildely to him, "it's not permanent, right?"
I metally crossed my fingers. Please don't be permanent. Please, please.
The two men looked at each other but didn't say a word, like they could read each other's minds. Now this was management we were talking about, so these people were probably capable of mind control.
They looked back at me simultaneously, which I have to admit, was pretty creepy.
"It all depends," said the shorter man.
We all waited silently for the man to continue, but when he didn't, Louis spoke up.
"Now sir," Louis said in a rather sassy voice. "What exactly does this depend on?"
The man looked at him, as if he had just asked the stupidest question known to man.
"It all depends," the man started, "like I said before, if Harry can control his little boy hormones and not flirt with every girl he comes across."
I narrowed my eyes at the man. He had never mentioned any of that before. Sometimes the truth hurts, I guess. (Quote: Niall Horan)
I smiled fakely at the man. "How reasurring."
He smiled back, his yellowish teeth gleaming in the dim light of the room. Both of the men stood up. And yes, at the exact same time. They really had to stop doing that. "Well, we'll leave you all to decide on things." He handed me a business card and I tucked it into my pocket without looking at it.
"Thank you, sir." I shook their hands, Niall and Louis following my actions. The man nodded once. "I'll be expecting a call."
We watched as the men left and I collasped back into the chair I'd been sitting on.
"Thank god that's over."
Niall and Louis plopped into the couch beside me."Agreed," said Niall.
As if they were waiting for the men to leave, ( I couldn't really blame them) Liam and Zayn reappeared. "So?" Zayn asked. "What happened?"
I scratched the back of my neck. "The question should be, what didn't happen?"
Niall laughed, but not his usual bubbly laugh. This one was shaky.
"Harry's dating Taylor Swift so he can stay in the band."
I haven't even confirmed it yet and we're already considered a couple. Yay....
Liam let out a low whistle."Damn...."
I nodded. "I know. It's horrible."
Liam came over and patted my back. "Don't worry, mate. She can't be that bad."
I shrugged, unsure of what to say.
After a minute or two of total silence, I said, "Do you know what I just realized?"
They all shook their heads. "I just realized, that I'd rather die in a hole than date Taylor Swift."
Despite the mood we were all in, they laughed. "C'mon," said Liam.
"You should at least give her a chance. I mean, have you even met her before?"
"No. And I really didn't plan to."
"Well then, how do you know how bad she's gonna be?"
I shrugged. "I've heard some stuff."
Liam sent me a disapproving look. "And look what the media's done to you. I don't think all of it's true."
Niall nodded. "He has a point. Guess we'll just have to wait and see."
Zayn piped in. "Do you think the fans will like her?"
I didn't answer him. Instead, I just stared at the floor.
I had to date Taylor Swift, I thought, as it finally sunk in.
And to make matters worse, I couldn't do anything about it.
