The Undying Monster

Whole Story

Once upon a time, there was a small village at the foot of a mountain. The people there had a major problem. There was a monster living in the cave on top of the mountain and every full moon, the monster would go to the village and ruin their crops, eat the livestock, and steal their goods.

One day, the village chief called for a meeting to pick someone to slay the evil beast. The only warrior of their town volunteered to slay the beast. The village chief agreed and sent him to the mountain. The next day, the warrior didn't come back. They were all troubled and picked again. A farmer volunteered and went to the mountain. The same thing happened the next day, there was no sign of him.

They repeated the same process until they ran out of capable people. However, there were two brothers that remained. The older brother volunteered and promised that he would slay the beast. They had no choice but to let him go in order to stop the beast from taking away their resources. Unfortunately, the man didn't come back. His younger brother was angry, he grabbed his weapon and went to the mountain.

He went there and saw the cave the monster was living. Because of his anger, he called the beast to come out. Naturally, the beast came out to greet the visitor. The young man charged the monster. To his surprise the monster easily went down. The monster glittered, shone, changed into something. It turned into human. The young man burst into tears when he saw his older brother lying there, wounded. The older brother said "My brother, forgive me. The original monster was dead a long time ago. The warrior which is the first man that was sent already killed the original monster. In fact, the monster was very easy to kill. However, after killing the monster, you need to choose from these choices. You either go home to the village and live a simple life or become the new monster that just sleep inside the cave and only comes out once a month in order to feed on people's food."

This is our society today. Those who are in power don't want to step down and those who gets power will reveal his inner self that will expose his greed and lust. If you were that younger brother would you choose to go back to your town, tell your good news and work again or be a monster that would just sleep and goes to town to feed himself.
