I stammered to my feet and slowly reached into my pocket. "Ahh!" I yelped. The train was burning hot again, but this time, the burning wasn't going away, it was getting hotter. I grabbed the train as fast as I could and threw it on the ground. As soon as it hit the ground a blinding light erupted from it and bursted into the air. The light was too bright to look at. It should have blinded me, but, it didn't. In fact I was completely able to look at it. A hologram appeared from the light and a man dressed in white came into focus. "Stephen at last." The man spoke. "Wait what?! You can, you can see me?" I blurted out.
"Yes Stephen, I have been waiting many years for your 16th birthday to come. And it finally has."
"Who are you?" I yelled.
"My name is Abiar, and I come from a place called Elementia."
"Elementia? What is that? Wait no, stop talking. This isn't happening to me."
"Oh, but it is Stephen."
"No it isn't!" I screamed in frustration. "Nothing weird happens in SunField. It's a normal town with normal things. This isn't normal."
"Stephen, that Alley way wasn't normal either. This building was too small to have such a long road. And then to open up to plain fields, is even weirder. But your curiosity got the better of you didn't it?"
"What? No, it doesn't matter. Stop talking Ab- Abi."
"Abiar?" Abiar said.
"Yes, Abiar."
"Why don't you calm down ok? I'm not here to harm you. In fact, I'm just a hologram. I can't hurt you. Ask me anything."
"What? Um ok fine. What- what's Elementia?"
"I'm surprised you don't know. Has your mother taught you nothing?"
"My mother?" What's she got to do with this?"
"She's from Elementia."
"What? But what is that?"
"Oh right, it's a Solar System just outside this one. Which I presume you call, The Milky Way."
"It's, another Solar System?! What are you talking about! My mum is not from another Solar System! Your talking nonsense!" I was so confused. What was going on!
"I'm not talking nonsense! That train in your pocket was a gift from us. It's a key to a room that will transport you to our world."
"What?! I threw it on the-" before I could finish my sentence I felt a buzzing again. The train was in my pocket. I took it out and it was still hot but for some reason I could pick it up now.
"Your saying this is a key, to your Solar System?" I asked.
"Not quite. It'll take you to a room that will have transportation in it to take you to our world."
Abiar replied. Why did I believe him? Maybe because of this strange Alley way.
"Ok well, where is this room?"
"In that building over there." He directed me to the building that I'd seen earlier. It was old and broken now, but it still looked like I could walk through it. Abiar spoke again,
"Stephen, why don't you return home and alert your mother about this. She'll know what to do."
"Wait! Where's Clarissa!"
"Who?"
"Clarissa! She was the girl I was with!"
"She's here with me."
"Why is she with you?!"
"She's an Elemental."
"Elemental? Like the elements?"
"Yes Stephen. Elementia is made up of the four elements. We call the people elementals."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense but, Clarissa is an Elemental?!" I asked. What was I saying?
"Yes she is dear boy. I hope to see you soon Stephen Watts, and in person to." And with that, he was gone. "Wait! No, drat, I still had so much to ask him." I said under my breath. Suddenly the cold wind and dark clouds disappeared and I was left standing in a lonely field.*
I left the Alley way frantic and distressed. I thought, in a way, I'd gone completely insane. I ran through White street, back onto Turnip Avenue, down Denice beach and into a Cafe called 'Abigail's Afternoon Delights'. This is where my parents said they'd be. I tried to act normal walking in there but I was so out of breath from running all the way here. People looked at me with crooked smiles and said "Hey!" And "Hello!" As I walked past. Living in a small town means knowing pretty much everyone especially since me and mum visit this cafe a lot as well. Mum was sitting at at a small circular table in the middle of the room with dad. They looked so happy together. I really don't want to ruin their moment but what I just witnessed, couldn't wait. "Mum! Dad!" I yelled in a sort of hushed yell.
"Hey Stephie!" Mum yelled back pretty loudly.
"Mum! Don't do that!"
"Do what?" She smirked at me.
"What's up Steph?" My dad asked me. "How come your back so early? We thought you'd spend way longer with her!" Mum and dad smirked at each other. I'm sure they were just happy I had a friend. Ok, a bit more than a friend.
"Look, I can't explain here but it's pretty serious. It concerns you mostly mum." Mums smirk faded to a frown. But she didn't look scared or worried about me. Not that she usually does but I really did try to sound urgent and scared, and she just looked, disappointed.
"I really did try to hide it from you Stephen." Mum said.
"What?" I said in retaliation.
"Come on, lets get you home. I'll explain everything there."
