Awaiting them at the edge of the town was a small cottage with flowers covering a part of its roof and wilting plants near its entrance. Luc and Viridian dismounted their horses and walked to the door leaving the soldiers behind. Luc could smell the warm morning air of the town as he knocked on the small brown door but there was no answer, it was still early after all. Everyone was tired and he could see how worried Viridian was getting, they had to be back at the palace before sundown tomorrow if they wanted to have any chance of surviving the queen's wrath. He knocked again harder, leading the door to crack open a little bit. He pushed the door open, "Is someone here?" he called out but no one answered. They slowly stepped inside when Luc saw a figure lying on the floor next to the table. It was her. "Evie," he said kneeling down next to her. "It's her," Viridian said, "Is she okay?" he asked realizing that she was not moving. He grabbed some water from the table and sprinkled it on her. Evelyn wrinkled her eyes, slightly opening them she said, "Luc?" She remembered him after all these years she still remembered him. "It's me," he said, "You have something really weird on your face" she replied, making a comical gesture towards her mouth, and passed out again. Luc touched his face and realized two things one that she was talking about his beard and two that she was very very drunk.
Viridian let out a sigh, understanding what was happening. "Get up Evelyn," he said gently shaking her. Luc walked back out of the cottage and addressed the soldiers, "We have found the princess."
