"Doc I'm back. I'm back from the future.".

All the color drained from his face before he collapsed to the ground. I fell to my knees and shook him vigorously.

"Doc! Doc!" I pleaded to no avail. Doc was out.

I gave a frustrated sigh and leaned back on my knees. Dammit Doc. You could have passed out later. I lifted the man's deadweight and hauled him into the car.

Once the man was secured in the car I hopped into the driver's seat and began my way to his house. I couldn't help but chuckle a bit as I gazed down at him. This younger version of Doc is not truly his Doc. Not yet anyway. My Doc was lost in 1885 while he's stuck in 1955 with his younger self who just finished sending his past self to 1985 which continues the cycle.

I was lucky that Doc's house wasn't exceedingly far.  I was beginning to feel dizzy all of a sudden due to ,I believe,  the constant time traveling.  I haul the Alpha into his house and rest him on the couch.

~

I still can't shake that icky feeling from inside. It's like my insides were at war with each other. But listening to Doc drone on as he reads the letter did distract my mind.

"Unfortunately, the car will never fly again.", he turns in that surprised look I have come to love. "It flew?".

"Yeah, well, you had a hover conversion done in the early twenty-first century.".

I could just kiss this man. If he was mine. Not yet. Mines back in 1885.

" 'I have buried the Delorean in the Delgato mine adjacent to the old Boot Hill Cemetery as shown on the enclosed map. Hopefully it will remain undisturbed and preserved until you uncover it in 1955. Inside, you will find repair instructions. My 1955 counterpart' - that's me - 'should have no problem repairing it so you can drive it back to the future. Once you have returned to 1985, destroy the time machine.".

Destroy the time machine. Why? Why would you not want to come back? He promised he wouldn't-.  Dammit Doc, why are you so confusing. I thought you really wanted me.

"Do not - I repeat - do not attempt to come back here to get me. I am perfectly happy living in the fresh air and wide open spaces, and I fear that unnecessary time travel only risks further disruption of the space-time continuum. And please take care of - Einstein for me."

Least he remembers Einstein.

"He's your dog, Doc - Einstein - it's what you call your dog...in 1985."

Doc straightens the paper. "I know you will give him a good home. Remember to walk him twice a day and that he only likes canned dog food. These are my wishes. Please respect them and follow them. And so, Marty, I now say farewell and wish you Godspeed. I apologize for not being the mate you wish me to be. You've been a good, kind, and loyal friend to me, and you made a real difference in my life. I will always treasure our relationship, what could have been, and will think of you with fond memories, warm feelings and a special place in my heart.  Your friend in time, 'Doc.' Emmett L. Brown."

There was a brief moment of pause. Doc's eyes slowly traveled from the paper to mine. I could see the gears ticking in his mind as his thoughts swirled.

"Mates?".

I rub the space a mark would have been. "We never got a chance to get that far. Close.".

"You and my future counterpart have engaged in sexual activities! Was that allowed in 1985.".

"No, but what we have, going to have, is special. I don't know how he could just not want that.".

Now I really felt sick. I can feel the sweat dripping down my back as my mouth begins to feel like cotton. I think I'm about to throw up. I am going to throw up. My legs were already moving towards the window before I purged the contents of my stomach into Doc's bushes.
