"You're Jocelyn, aren't you?" Marcus looked at me confused. This is where it started. Well... Pretty much. "Yeah." I blushed, my cheeks turning rosy red. Let's start from the very beginning, when it was just me, Rachel, my computer, and my camera.
"What's up guys, how are you doing?"
"Hellooooooo!"
"Hi, my name is Caspar Lee..."
"Today we're going to downtown London and..."
"Hi!"
"Hello guys.."
"And this is another fail video."
A laugh escaped my lips as I watched my computer screen. Okay, I was wrong. THIS. Is how it all started.
I had always wanted to be on YouTube, have a channel that thousands watched weekly, laughing as they watched with open eyes. It was finally going to happen. I was ready, Rachel was ready, we were ready to finally upload.
The video loading on my laptop, nerves came through my body. This was the very first video, the video that started it all. "Now, we wait." I laughed looking at Rachel, her smiling growing from excitement.
A week was all it took, forty subscribers, one hundred and seventy-five viewers. It was an incredible feeling. A month, three hundred subscribers, two months, a thousand. Before I knew it we had over two hundred and fifty thousand subscribers and over a million views on all the videos together.
School couldn't have been better, Rachel and I walked the halls, our friends along side, happy everyday. It was perfect, life was perfect. He finally noticed me, it couldn't get any better. My friends and I joked at lunch, laughing every minute.
Reagan drank her grape soda as Abby and Elise attacked each other to get the last sip. "I want it." Abby whined to Elise who took the soda. Haley making weird faces and video taping everyone on her IPhone, Ashley being the normal one, eating her food. "Look!" Dayanna said pointing to her IPod, showing everyone a photo of Zayn Malik from One Direction. Rachel and I giggled, listening to Little Bird by Ed Sheeran on Rachel's nano.
School was out, it was Friday. Which meant it was upload day! We were making another video today. We weren't quite sure which one to do, but I thought we'd do the blind folded make up challenge. Rachel wasn't sure, she was a bit nervous still. Knowing that we had a huge audience.
Rachel and I walked down the breezy spring street. Our backpacks resting on our shoulders, laughing as we walked to my house. We climbed up the long staircase, up to the very top floor, apartment number six. I took my key it of my bag, unlocking the apartment door and inviting Rachel inside.
We threw our backpacks in my room, taking out my camera and having a last laugh. "Did you see Jack's new video last night?" Rachel screeched. "It was hysterical." I said, a smile sneaking onto my face.
We set up my camera, taking out my make up and putting it on the coffee table. "Ready?" I asked Rachel, about to hit the button on my camera. "Yep." She stuck her tongue out, putting her thumb up as a sign. "Hi guys! It's Jocelyn and..."
"Rachel." We smiled at the camera. It was a weird feeling. Talking to a camera, but the results were the best thing ever.
The video sat on YouTube, uploaded and ready to be watched by anyone. We sat in the living room, watching Drake & Josh on the Tv. My phone buzzed in my pocket, making me jump out of my skin. One new tweet. I opened my Twitter, looking at my notifications.
"Ah!" I screamed, my throat burning. "Ow! Thanks for bursting my ear drum. What is it this time?" Rachel said annoyed. "Ja-J-J." Is all I could get out of my mouth, my tongue tied in a knot. Rachel took my phone, searching for why I went insane.
"JacksGap!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, making the windows shake. I quickly grabbed my phone from her, looking at the tweet. "What did he say?" She asked excited. Rachel stood behind my shoulder, looking at my phone to see Jack's tweet.
"Watched some of your videos. You're really cool. Maybe we could meet up in London and make a video sometime? You up for it?" This couldn't be happening. Was I dreaming? I screamed again, my lungs killing me this time. Rachel still read the tweet, whispering it to herself and then almost passed out. "Do you know what this means!" She screamed. "That I should reply." I joked, typing back to Jack.
"We'd love too! We really enjoy your videos, we were gonna come to London sometime, give me your details sometime. x" We jumped up and down on the couch, screaming until we both had head-aches. The door opened as my brother and his friend Wesley came into the house. Unaware of what just happened and our mental stages. This. Is. The. Life.
