Chapter 1

Kihyun's POV

"oh thank you" i bowed at the delivery man and close the door. the bowl was still hot. i took the glass and poured the whole drink. "this looks so delicious" i took the first bite and my eyes automatically became bigger. "how-how can this be so delicious?". i continued eating the stew with plain rice and my mom's handmade kimchi.

i cleaned the house after doing the dishes as my childhood friend wanted to stop by. "should i use this or this?" 2 bedsheets with the same color but the different pattern was so hard to choose. and then i remembered that he likes galaxies more than the stars. i changed the bedsheet with the new one and tidied the bed. "damn it's so exhausted" i drank some cold water and lay on the couch while waiting for him.

"4 bodies were found in the woods today. but what's strange about the bodies is all their left thumbnails were missing. all the bodies will be identified before undergoing the autopsy. the detectives claim that the culprit is a serial killer" the reporter said.

"that's strange. why the thumbnails?" i asked myself. it gives me goosebumps. suddenly someone rang the bell made me startled. "aishh it must be him" i walked to the door and opened it. "kihyun-ah!!!" he immediately hugged me as soon as the door opened. "hey let me go, hyungwon. it's hot" i pulled off his arm around me and glared at him. "what with that stare huh? it's been 9 years since we haven't met. what's so wrong with the hug? ahh forget it, let me come in" he brought his luggage with him and went straight to the couch.

he look around while putting his belongings. "pretty big huh for you alone" he said and saw a frame beside the TV. "this must be Mr. Yoo and Mrs. Yoo right? what's a lovely family" he put back the frame at the place and smiled. "i already prepared a room for you. this way" i showed him the way to the room and opened the door. "it's not very cozy but only this i can prepare for you. hope you're okay" i said. he patted my shoulder and smiled.

"it's okay. pretty cozy and i like it. though i just stay here for a few days so it's fine for me" he went out and took all his stuff at the living room and brought it inside. "do you need anything else?" i asked before leaving. he shook his head while smiling. i nodded and closed the door before leaving. i made my way to my room and took a shower. i quickly dressed up and packed my backpack for tomorrow's class. it's already 11:30 pm and i should sleep. don't want to be late again tomorrow. i turned off and lay on the bed. everything will be okay tomorrow. not very soon after i closed my eyes, i dozed off.

a loud sound from outside woke me up. i look at the clock and freaked out. "fuck i'm gonna be late" i went straight to the bathroom and only showered for less than 5 minutes. i wore the school uniform and the backpack. before leaving, i checked on hyungwon but he was still sleeping soundly. "i'll text him later" i wore the shoes and went to the school.

i parked the car in front of a restaurant nearby and fixed my uniform before got off the car. "you have a baby to take care kihyun?" teacher being sarcastic as soon as i stepped into the school area. "i'm sorry sir" i bowed at him and ran to my class.

"you're late again today" teacher in the class said as i closed the door respectfully. "i'm sorry miss" i bowed at him and took my place. i took out the book and paid full attention in class.

after class, i made my way to the canteen while waiting for my friends. jooheon from afar already waved at me. then, minhyuk and changkyun arrived followed by shownu. "where's wonho?" changkyun asked. "ohh he went to the washroom. and he asked to buy him anything while waiting for him. we nodded simultaneously. minhyuk and jooheon went to buy some food. not very long after that, wonho arrived.

he sat and look around. "what's wrong?" shownu asked. "have you seen the freshmen?" he asked. "freshman? do we have freshmen? school almost come to the end tho" changkyun said. "but she's from the transfer program. and i heard it's a girl" wonho continued. i just looked away while hearing them talk.

"what's the matter?" jooheon put the tray and sat. "we just have a freshman today" shownu said and started to eat. i pulled my tray and took the first bite. my eyes suddenly went wild and looked at the hall. it's a girl, but in a different uniform. she must be a freshman. i just stared at her while eating but looked away. a group of the 12'th grade boys ran after her and surrounded her. she looked uncomfortable and terrified.

i put my spoon and went in their direction. "you made her scared, bro" one of them said. a boy held her wrist and smiled. i pulled his hand from her immediately. "what's the problem with you? let go of my hand!" he shouted. "get lost from here" i said while looking at him with a sharp look. "i said let go of my hand!" he pulled his arm from me and punched my face. "when i said let go of my hand, just let it go. but you won't listen so why not i teach you something" he laughed followed by the others.

another punch almost lay on my face but a teacher stopped him. "both of you, follow me right now!" he said. that boy fixed his uniform and leave.

"are you okay?" i asked the girl and looked at her wrist. "is it hurt?" i asked again. she nodded. i just smiled and introduce myself before leaving the place. "kihyun-ah, you don't wanna ask my name?" she suddenly asked. "ohh yea i forgot. what's your name?" i looked straight into her eyes. it's feels strange. "i'm lee haesu, a student in grade 11th. just call me haesu. nice to meet you" she smiled widely.

why did her smile make me feel so strange? what's wrong with my heart? her smile made my heart pound.
