(Emily's (you) POV)
The first female director of the FBI Emily Cavanaugh, that's me, I'm the first to achieve such a high position in the Federal Bureau of Investigation. It wasn't easy but I guaranteed that the process was indeed worth it. Seven months ago I became Directress of the FBI headquarters in Washington D.C and since then my job has been a breeze, well it was until today.
"Miss Cavanaugh?"
Looking up I saw Lilith my assistant fidgeting nervously
"Yes?"
She took a small step forward and placed a file in front of me
"A new case came in and...I recognized the victim's name and brought it straight away"
I took a sip of coffee and opened the file, moments of heavy silence passed as I starred at the pictures while Lilith stood there quietly
"Good job bringing this to me, advise the special agents that this case is mine"
She opened her mouth to protest but one quick cold glance made her close up.
"I'm off to D.C jail, don't wait for me"
I gathered a few things and left the building before anyone could stop me.
"D.C jail, how can I help Miss?"
I flashed my FBI badge and he buzzed the gate open
"I didn't know you were coming down here today chief"
He smiled while trying to keep up with me
"Neither did I. Take me to see cellmate 7721"
He froze making me turn
"Inmate 7721 was...murder last night ma'am"
I smiled calmly
"I know, show me"
He walked me down the private cellblock until the cell I needed
"It hasn't been touched yet so feel free to take anything as evidence"
I nod and look at the walls that were not only covered in blood but also had news articles and pictures of me hanged all around
"I guess he kept tabs on me"
Taking them down, and placing them in an evidence box I continue to search the room, carefully lifting and moving things to find any piece of valuable evidence, but there was barely a scratch.
I reached for the three books that sat on a small shelf"Invisible, American Spy, and The Night Stalker, funny choices"
I placed them in the box and walked over to the crooked mirror hanging on the wall
"Hey, officer? Could you help me move this?"
He quickly helped me remove the mirror showing me a small safe box
"Inmate 7721 had privileges?"
He didn't answer the question so I sigh and pull the safe
"Well it's evidence now"
He looked away and whispered
"You should leave ma'am it's not safe for you to be here anymore"
Without understanding or even being able to protest he closed my boxes and carried them out, making me follow behind
