Personality: he's cocky and thinks too highly of himself when in reality it's a act to protect himself from his true self where he feels like he doesn't deserve to even look at a volleyball much less play with one of best teams in Japan. Although he thinks he's not good enough he's very competitive and doesn't like to lose, he talks a lot to his teammates sometimes in praises and in other's criticism he's not very good at filtering his thoughts and sometimes hurts others feelings. He's not great at regulating his emotions especially anger he can get very angry very easily and very fast

Backstory: When he was little he admired his dad and wanted to be just like him, so he worked his ass off to become the captain of the volleyball team in middle school but in his last year in middle school he lost a big game and disappointed him, and it crushed him to see his dad disappointed in him. His dad was a previous Shiritorizawa vice captain so he looked up to him a lot and wanted to go to Shiritorizawa just like his dad but he started hanging out with the wrong people in middle school and became a delinquent, he got piercings, picked up a habit of smoking. The first time his mom saw his piercings she almost had a heart attack and blamed herself for not giving him enough attention and neglecting him a bit in his childhood.
After middle school he applied for many high schools hoping to just get into one he didn't care which one but he preferred to get into Shiritorizawa but his grades were awful and yet somehow he bullshit his way through the exam and got in, his father was very proud which put a lot of pressure on him to do well in school and in volleyball
His first year at Shiratorizawa was not great he almost failed but, he eventually passed but just barely in his second year was a lot better he really tried and he passed he may not be very academically smart but his game sense and his street smarts are off the charts, this year it's not looking good again his admiration for his captain Ushijima has developed into a crush he's never had a crush on a guy before so these are all new emotions he blushes every time he praises him for a good serve or pats him on the shoulder after practice who knows if he'll ever survive this year
His second name Kazue was given to him by his grandpa, his grandpa personally didn't like that his name was an English name so he took it upon himself to give him a proper Japanese name and he's called him that ever since he was little, not many people know about his second name and he wants it to stay like that

Habits: when he's nervous he stutters to the point it's almost hard to understand he also bites his lips and taps his fingers on objects when he's frustrated or bored, he stims a lot when he gets to excited lots of people think it weird because he makes high pitched noises and sucks his cheeks in to make him look like a fish he also snaps his fingers together
