THEY BOTH STOOD IN THE WOODS FACING EACH OTHER IN SILENCE. Seeing he wasn't going to speak, Aline decided to first seeing as he was still in shock. "You've changed a lot over the years Derek, I'm guessing life wasn't very kind to you." she stated, walking towards the direction of the old Hale house.

"And you look exactly the same, minus being a little paler than usual." he replied, walking the same way.

She chuckled slightly, "I guess you could say time stopped for me or I'm stuck in time while everything else keeps on moving."

They walked the rest of the way, Derek had been quieter than she would've guessed. She thought he would be asking loads of questions but she did take notice that Derek wasn't the same 16 year old boy she used to hang out with.

Entering through the front door of the house brought back a lot of memories for Aline, she hadn't set foot in it until now.

As she walked through, she got flashbacks of the foggy smoke and bright orange flames that spread all around.

She remembered the screams of her friends, she remembered them coughing. The whining of the babies, the panics as they tried to get out.

Most of all she remembered Talia reaching for her hand, as they both knew what fate they were about to become.

In the back of her mind, she heard herself humming that same old tune, then she heard her chilling scream that echoed in her mind.

Derek had noticed her just staring into space, he knew in his mind she was thinking about that night.

"You were alive this whole time?" he asked, breaking the everlasting silence.

Snapping out of her gaze, "Answer me this, do I look alive to you?"

He looked over her appearance for a minute, "No."

"Then you have your answer." she said, then walked throughout the first floor of the house, going to the basement where she was last alive.
