"I thought the deal was Eighteen." Lucinda said angrily to her grandfather  "I don't want you here anymore it's too dangerous." Her grandfather said, " I can handle myself." She grumbled, stubbornly
"I rather be safe the sorry." He said, "That's what you said last time and now apparently the place isn't safe ." She says pointing at the white building that was behind them "I'm friends with these people I wouldn't trust them if I didn't. Please just get in the car." He pledged with his granddaughter with tears running down her sun-kissed skin she gets in the car her grandfather gets in the car and drives off

Lucinda looks out the window as the trees pass by and her light brown eyes stare back at her "These people are truly nice people Lucinda you should give them a chance." He said, "Who are these people anyway?" She asked, "Emily and Sam Uley live in La push with their little boy." He said Lucinda rolled her eyes and stayed silent "Come on just give them a chance." He pleaded "Fine...but I'm not giving in easily." She stubbornly stated

Lucinda's grandfather pulls into a dirt driveway Lucinda could see the house as it stood at the end. "Mommy look a policeman someone is going to jail." Lucinda heard from outside. The car stopped and her grandfather stepped out of the car "Charlie it's nice to see you again." A girl announced she had russet skin and long brown hair that went with her brown eyes the two of them talked for a while as sat in the car Lucinda looked around taking in the scenery. The house looked like it was made out of wood and there was a tree that covers one-half of the house.

Lucinda heard a knock on her window and looked to see who it was "Are you going to jail?" A little boy asked struggling to look above the window before Lucinda could answer his question his mother called out to him "Koda this is the girl that's going to be living with us remember I told you yesterday." The woman picked the kid up and held him in her arms

"I'm sorry about him." She says "It's okay if I saw a person in a cop car I would be thinking the same thing." Lucinda shyly said stepping out of the car "You must be Lucinda." She says holding out her hand "I'm Emily and this is Koda." Lucinda shook her hand "I'm Koda Joseph Uley." Koda said Emily and Lucinda laughed "It's nice to meet you Emily and Koda Joseph Uley." Lucinda said

"My husband Sam is running a little late but he'll be here, later on. We can get your bags and put them in the house." Emily put Koda down to help Lucinda bring her bags in "I have to go but I'll call you later to check in." Charlie said kissing Lucinda on the forehead.

They both say their goodbyes and go their separate ways.

"Okay not trying to be rude but either Sam is very hungry or other people eat here," Lucinda says putting some biscuits in the oven "My daddy eats a lot," Koda said playing with his toy cars "We have friends overall the time and I cook for them," Emily explains Lucinda nodded "Koda where did you put my bag," Lucinda asked Koda went towards the kitchen table and pulled out Lucinda's bag from under the table "I didn't want the monsters to get it." He says giving her the bag Lucinda pulled out a pill container and took her pills.

The two of them went back to cooking. While cooking Lucinda took bits and pieces of the food eating it without Emily knowing by the time it was time to eat Lucinda already ate enough to where she could convince herself she wasn't hungry. Lucinda decided to stay downstairs until the others got to the house Lucinda heard people from outside. She puts her hoodie on and stands near Emily "Don't worry you're going to be okay." Emily said reassuring her Lucinda looked between her and the front door waiting for it to open

"Daddy!" Koda yelled running to the door Lucinda could hear Koda talking none stopping to his father "Mommy is in the kitchen with Lucinda." Emily walked over to greet her husband who had just walked through the door. When Sam puts Koda down, Koda runs to Lucinda and grabbed her hand pulling Lucinda over to meet his father "Daddy this is the girl I was telling you about." Koda said, "Hello I'm Lucinda." She waved at him Sam introduced himself. "The others should be coming in shortly." He said Koda was still holding her hand "Come on upstairs."

Koda says taking Lucinda with him The two of them sat at the top of the staircase "Are you shy?" Koda asked moving his hair out his face Lucinda stayed quiet unsure how to answer "I'm not much of a people person." She ended up saying Koda told Lucinda to wait and that he would be back Lucinda waited for a while starting to wonder what he was doing Lucinda heard some people come into the house Lucinda backed away from the staircase.
Koda came upstairs a few minutes later confused

"Where are you?" He asked out loud Lucinda put her hands out so that way he could see her. She was sitting near a wall away from the staircase Koda went over to her "You can meet them tomorrow if you want." Koda says talking about the people downstairs. "Is that what you want?" Koda asked Lucinda nodded her head, saying a small thank you "Koda, Your favorite  Uncle is here."

A voice yelled "Coming" Koda respond "That's Paul he thinks because he sneaks me candy under the table that means he's my favorite Uncle." Lucinda smiled at him and ruffled his hair " Go back downstairs before they come looking for you." She said, "Will you be okay." He asked looking back as he went up the stairs Lucinda nodded and stayed near the staircase
