It was like yesterday,
The day we met,
We were young and strong,
How can we forget,

Both inexperienced,
With a lot of growing to do,
Not quite friends,
I did me and you did you,

Time in the saddle,
Is where two became one,
Give and take on both sides,
But a bond was formed,

We learned together,
You never complained,
For nothing more than a few treats,
And brush through your mane,

You took care of me,
And I took care of you,
And that's what friends,
Are supposed to do,

More hours in the barn,
Than hours on the trail,
But the places we went,
The stories we could tell,

Your body is thinner,
Than when our story began,
The trails have forgotten you,
But I haven't my friend,

Theres a rainbow bridge,
I have been told,
Where horses can go,
And never get old,

If you go there,
Awhile and wait,
I will see you there,
At a later date,

Then we will ride,
New trails and reminisce,
And make more memories,
And see old friends.
