Chapter 14

Pavel's pov:

I stared at her blankly as i tried to process what he had just said.

"I'm sorry?" I muttered softly as i couldn't bring myself to believe that i heard her correctly.

We were sitting on the couches in the living room of their apartment.

I had woken up around 15 minutes ago. Forth and Beam are already asleep in Beam's room. 

I was also going to just stay in Dome's room but Nate said she wanted to talk to me about something so here we are.

I can't say i was expecting the words that came out of her mouth. 

"I will help you erase all the history you have with the underworld. In exchange, i want you to get a safer job and maybe even start your studies if you feel up to it." She repeated what she said earlier. 

Erase all my history in the underworld? Is that even possible? 

"It will be hard to erase everything. And it won't be done in a few days or something. But it can be done. I have connections who will be willing to help do it." She added sitting back on the couch. 

"The gangs i have worked with won't just sit back if they get a whiff of this." I spoke quickly. 

"I know they won't. I'm not naive enough to think it'll be as easy as just erasing everything without there being any challenges." She nodded. 

"This will put you, Beam, and Dome at risk of being targetted. Why do you want to do something this dangerous just so I'll get a safer job for myself?" I frowned. 

"Because you and Forth are now a part of our family as well. And i won't sit back when i know my family members are in danger." She answered nonchalantly. 

I was taken aback by that. 

Family? 

"Beam treasures Forth greatly. I've never seen him be that smitten and in love with anyone before. And the same goes for Dome. Although you and he have a lot of work to do in regards to your own relationship. And the ones they love and choose to be with are of course going to be part of my family as well." She explained. 

"So... What? You're going to use your connections and erase all my history, making it seem as if i never existed?" I asked slowly. 

"More or less. If we leave anything, it will bring danger later on. It will be better to erase everything and start over." She replied. 

I observed her silently for a few seconds. 

She was sitting back comfortably on the couch with her arms crossed over her chest. 

I could recognize the pose. 

It's the one Dome does when he's set his mind on something and won't take no for an answer. 

Looking at her now, I can see the resemblance in their body language and their stubbornness. 

"Is no an acceptable answer?" I asked even though I already knew what the answer to that was going to be. 

"What do you think?" She cocked an eyebrow. 

"That's a no." I sighed. 

She smirked. "Smart." 

We both looked towards the front door when it opened. 

Dome came in. 

"Where did you go?" Nate asked him. 

"Just out for an errand. What are you guys talking about?" He came and sat down beside me. 

"Nothing much. We're just talking about how Pavel here is going to quit his current job and start looking for a safer one." She smiled glancing at me.
