Tell me if you want more. Hope you enjoy! ~Jailee Baker~

It was around August 7th when I first started the 7th grade. It was a new school, as the one I had spent my 6th grade year in was now shut down and a new school called Shelby Valley Elementary School was built in its place. The new school was also filled to a capacity of about 1-2 thousand children from just about every elementary and middle school in the county. We live in Pike County, Kentucky. Also known as Pikeville, K.Y. Kailee was in the 8th grade, and we had only one class together- band.
Now I know what you're thinking. A couple of "band geeks." Well yes, that's one of the nicer things we have been called.
Anyway, she played the flute. I, the clarinet. I purposely sat behind her every day, just to stare at this unknown girls beauty. I had a girlfriend at the time, who's name I'm not going to mention. And yes, even though I was only 12 at the beginning of the year, I knew for sure my sexuality. I had known it all my life I just didn't know what it even meant until the ending days of 6th grade.
Every day I would sit behind this mysterious, yet gorgeous girl who at the time had red highlights in top of a beautiful light brown-colored hair. I didn't even know her name, and at the time I didn't need to. The only actual interaction we had with each other was a short, yet warm hug, that just reached down into my soul and pulled out every bit of sadness I could ever have in the world...
