A playground. Some considered it just a playground. But for the kids there, it was a place of war and hierarchy.
While the kids were playing below, at the top lied two people, Jack and Mark.
As they bump their fists, Mark asks
"Friends?"
"Always"
Cut back to the present time.
The gang war has finally ended. Rain is pouring heavily. As the water flows, the blood of the lifeless bodies also flows with it.
In the security footage, a man is running for his life while blood is dripping from his shoulder.
Jack can't process what he just saw. He starts trembling with fear.
Jack : This is my problem. I will deal with it. I don't want anyone else to interfere in this matter. Got it?
Zoe : Okay.... But what are you going to do?
Jack walks away.
As he walks. The rain starts pouring even more heavily. He looks up at the sky. It looks awfully dark and cloudy. He is not prepared for what he is about to face.
The man is visible. He is holding his arm in pain with his teeth clenched.
Jack : Is... is that you?... Mark?
Mark looks towards him with fear and speaks awkwardly.
Mark : H..H..HEY JACK
Jack : Wow okay. I did not expect you to meet here. Wait is that an injury? Oh god that looks painful.
Mark : (in pain) Yeah... it is.
Jack : Ho.. How did it happen?
Mark : Oh, umm some huge door fell on my arm. It's just a minor injury forget about it.
Jack knows he is lying.
Jack : Do you, by chance know what happened there? *Points at the warehouse*
Mark : No, no I didn't see or hear anything there.
Jack : (crying slowly).....Please. I know someone did it. JUST SAY THAT IT'S NOT YOU.
Mark looks at him. He starts clenching his teeth.
Mark : .....It was me Jack. I.. I had to do it. I knew what I was getting into. I had to supply information about you to him.
Jack : (clenching his fists while crying) Why?
Mark : He said he would give me money if I sold you out. I was desperate..
Jack : SO YOU SOLD OUT YOUR BEST FRIEND IN EXCHANGE FOR MONEY?!
Mark : (crying) I had to. I also had to give information about a certain Ramzi. He promised me my life would become stable after that...
Jack's eyes starts widening.
Everything that happened. Every single scream, every bullet, every tear, was because of him.
Yamato is running towards the main base panting. He goes to Zoe
Yamato : Where is he?
Zoe : He said not to interfere. It's a personal matter
Yamato starts holding her.
Yamato : Where. Is. He.
Yamato runs towards them
Jack : (crying) WHY WHY WHY WHY. WHY MARK WHY. YOU COULD HAVE COME TO ME FOR HELP.
Mark : (screaming) I WAS DESPERATE. I WAS ALWAYS JEALOUS OF YOU JACK. SEEING YOUR PROGRESS MADE ME FEEL INADEQUATE. I had to do it... (sobs)
Jack : ....
Mark : PLEASE SPARE ME JACK I WILL NEVER BE BACK IN YOUR LIFE.
As Mark screams. A silhouette of Yamato jumps towards him.
Time stops for Jack.
His eyes widen.
Yamato slashes his sword toward Mark's neck.
Mark's head flies in slow motion for Jack. The last expression in Mark's face was shock. Time starts again for him.
Yamato keeps his sword back in the sheath with a sad look on his face.
Jack is in utter shock. He can't process what just happened in front of him. As he comes back to his senses... He realises the magnitude of the situation. He screams
Jack : YAMATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Yamato is distraught.
Jack runs towards Yamato to punch him. But Yamato avoids it and pins Jack to the ground. Jack : (sobbing slowly) Why Yamato..... Why..
Yamato is silent.
Two days happened since that incident.
Jack is sitting on a golden throne. A man kisses his hand. Yamato and Zoe are standing beside him.
He is promoted to Chancellor.
With no expression on his face, He looks towards the people.
The ceremony ends and Jack walks out.
It is night time. Jack, alone, looks at his purse. He sees the childhood photo of him and Mark hugging.
He stares at the empty sky.
In a dark room, A man with his assistant looks at the TV, smiling.
??? : Sir, the time has come.
??? : Start the preparations.
