My tired eyes peel themselves open as I wake a shivering mess on my cluttered bedroom floor. Confused and cold I pull myself into a seated position. What happened?

I reach through the mess and grab my phone from the floor, what time is it? My phone reads 8.35am. Multiple message notifications fill my screen;

Stephen- What happened last night?

Stephen- I'm sorry, please answer the phone! Xx

Mum- Penelope I had a message from Sasha last night she's worried about you..

Sasha- I'm sorry, can we talk x

Stephen- Penny are you ok? I'm really worried. Your eyes last night..

2 missed calls from mum
7 missed calls from Stephen

I let out a long sigh. I'm now going to have to have a conversation with my mum explaining what happened. Not to mention I'll have to face that dirty whore of a so-called friend this morning.

Suddenly the memories of the aftermath of last night's argument flood back. My face, my eyes they changed, I had fangs. No, surely that wasn't right!

I jump to my feet, frantically I examine my face in the mirror. I pull on my lips, examining my teeth and gums. I know what I saw, but surely that couldn't be right. It must have been the adrenaline, I was probably imagining it.

Taking a deep breath I prepare myself for a conversation I really don't want to have. I know once I leave this room Sasha is going to be waiting for me. I grab my phone, sliding it into my pocket as I open the bedroom door. Entering the kitchen I find Sasha sat by the back door puffing on a half smoked cigarette.

"Penny can we please talk about last night," she asks nervously.

"Is there really anything to talk about?" I scoff flipping the kettle on, a nice cup of tea always helps

"I don't want this to affect our friendship," she starts, I roll my eyes, "It was a mistake, I don't even.."

"Our friendship," I interrupt, "There is no friendship, a friend wouldn't do what you did. And as for a mistake, couldn't be much of a mistake if it's happened before. You betrayed me Sasha. I never thought you would do that. 3 years of friendship down the drain, for what? A fuck!"

"Penny I.."

"Don't! Don't bother trying to explain, I don't care. I don't want to hear it. I'm done with you, and I'm definitely with him"

I grab the milk from our small under the counter fridge, add a little to my tea and stir before replacing the milk back in the fridge. I take my steaming hot tea and head back to my room, closing the door loudly behind me.

I don't know what she thought she would accomplish with that conversation, she's delusional if she thinks we could continue to be friends, at this point I don't even think I can continue living here. In fact I know I can't!

I pull my phone from my pocket bringing up the earlier message I'd seen from my mum.

Mum- Penelope I had a message from Sasha last night she's worried about you. Apparently there was an argument, you hit her! Call me back xx

I click the little phone button in the top corner, 2 rings and mum answers.

"Penelope do you ever answer your phone?" She asks right away

"Not everyone gets up at the crack of dawn mum," I sigh

"What happened last night? Sasha text me really late saying you lost your shit, her words not mine," she chuckles

"Did she tell you why I lost my shit. The little whore.."

"Penelope language!"

"I walked in on her and Stephen fucking on our sofa. So I think whore is the correct way to describe her in this situation," I explain, and for a second the line goes quiet.

"Oh honey, I'm sorry. Are you ok?"

"Not really mum! I'm angry more then anything," I explain, "I can't live here anymore. Not with her, I need to come home"

"Always, do you need me to pick you up? I can be with you in half an hour"

"That'd be great, thank you"

"Ok sweetie, I love you, see you soon."

"Bye mum, see u soon," I click the end call button and set my phone down on the side.

I just can't continue to live here, not with her. Not after what she'd done. I grab my backpack and suitcase from my wardrobe and proceed to throw things messily inside. Grabbing handfuls of clothing, make up and miscellaneous items scattered around my room, they all get dumped into the open suitcase. Once full enough I slam it shut and zip it closed.

My phone charger, purse and more important things get careful placed in my backpack, that's not gonna get thrown around in the back of the car with mums reckless driving. I chuckle to myself, she's really not a terrible driver, just not the most calm of people on the road.

Bed unmade, some mess and rubbish still scattered around the room I give it one last look over, making sure I've got everything of importance. I won't be coming back here.

I nod in assurance to myself that I have in fact got everything I need. Grab my backpack, swing it over my shoulder. Taking my suitcase in hand I wheel it out the bedroom.

"What are you doing?"

"Leaving. Find a new roommate. I won't be coming back," I state matter-of-factly.

"Oh don't be silly Penny, we can sort this. Just stay"

I scoff and roll my eyes. I have no more words for this girl. She clearly doesn't understand the hurt and damage she has done.

I take my suitcase in hand and head out the front door, not saying another word I slam it fiercely behind me. Thankfully my mum is already here as Sasha tries to follow me out.

"Penny please" I ignore her, dump my suitcase in the boot of mums car, travel round to the front seat and slide in, giving mum a thankful smile.

"Ready to go home?" She asks

"Ready!"
