In the weeks that followed, the student council room was livelier than ever. With the addition of the writing club, silence was a rarity both after class and during lunch. At Lyra's behest, the club's first year girls had decided to spend lunchtime together. However, instead of exposing their classmates to their brand of conversation, they opted to crash the student council room under the guise of "special club business" much to Ken's chagrin. Not all changes were inconvenient to him though. In a surprising turn of events, Sonya had begun waiting for the rest of the group at the train platform in order to walk to school together. At first, this made Ken feel particularly happy, but was fast becoming an expected part of his morning schedule.
Time proved to be fleeting as the days flew by and trimester midterms were fast approaching. This left many students struggling to find outlets for their accumulated stress. It was a Thursday afternoon when one such outlet caused Sonya to seethe in anger.
"What the hell!"
In front of the small girl was her opened locker where it appeared that someone had sprayed milk through the vents and all over her belongings. As she tensed her fists in apparent rage, a familiar voice called out while stifling a laugh.
"Haha, wow... you should really be more careful with your food. A runt like you needs to drink her milk more than anyone. Oh well, I guess it's our families that pay for you to waste it after all."
Her entourage in tow, Elise placed a finger on her cheek as her amber eyes beat down on Sonya condescendingly. With whispers flowing from the third year audience, the scene brought back memories of their confrontation in the courtyard. However, with no sprayers nearby, Sonya was left with only her words as a defense.
"I don't know what you're rambling on about. Obviously this mess came from a cow. A stupid one at that. Do they not teach idiots like you where milk comes from?"
Elise scoffed at the rebuttal as one of the girls tried unsuccessfully to control her laughter. This caused a few other girls to chuckle as Elise's cheeks turned bright pink and she called out in an annoyed voice.
"T-this is just a waste of time. You aren't even worth talking to! Come on, everyone, this gremlin needs time to find new books after all."
Turning her attention to her friends, Elise announced her departure as she pivoted on her foot to walk away. As she did, a loud sound echoed throughout the hallway.
"WILD TURKEY ON THE LOOSE!"
The startling scream made Elise shriek and jump backwards in response. As all the girls, including Sonya, began to look around for the source, a certain raven haired girl stepped forward through the group.
"Whoops! I guess it was just a false alarm, Elise! My bad!"
Lyra smiled brightly as Elise's mouth was left agape in confusion. It wasn't long before Stella timidly walked up and joined Lyra's side as she continued to speak.
"Funny how things can look like turkeys from far away! When you squealed like that I thought it might have been a gobble!"
A smile crossed Sonya's face as she folded her arms and watched her would-be bully squirm under Lyra's innocent phrasing. With crimson filling her ears, Elise straightened her posture and shot a glare towards Lyra as she responded.
"I-I did not... squeal! I would never! You're just as foul mouthed as..."
It was then that Elise noticed that the group of girls behind her had not stopped snickering since Lyra's interjection. Clicking her tongue, Elise stomped into the floor as she retreated. The other girls began to follow as a triumphant feeling filled Sonya's chest. However, as Elise strode past her, Stella's voice rose to a crescendo.
