The Last Shot

Chapter 2

Week after week flashed past but it felt as if no time had passed for Katie. Caught in the moments she spent with Luke Evans, she felt so alone when she wasn't with him. Although the two had been hanging out everyday for a month, they were friends and nothing more. Katie was typing a paper on the battle of Gettysburg for her history class when her cellphone, which was on a table beside her bed, started vibrating. Shifting her body and sliding the laptop from her lap, she leaned over the side of her bed so she could see who was calling. Seeing it was Luke, she blushed furiously and quickly answered his call.
"Hey Katie" His deep smooth voice washed over her like a wave rolling through the ocean.
"Hi Luke". Losing control, she let out a giggle and clapped her free hand which wasn't holding the phone to her mouth blushing harder than before.
He must have heard her giggle but chose to ignore it for he continued casually.
"I thought maybe we could go hangout somewhere." Katie snapped the top of her laptop shut and put her free hand on her head before running it through her hair and stopping at the lower neck region.
"Yes"! Then deciding she sounded too desparate, she said;
"I mean..Yeah that would be cool". She slapped her palm to her face and shook her head because of how lame she sounded.
"Are you there"? Luke asked after a few moments of silence.
"Y-yes". Katie punched herself out of frustration for sounding so stupid while talking to her crush.
"You know what"? Luke said as Katie started panicking. What if he thought she was completely lame and didn't want anything to do with her anymore?
"We should go to the beach". They both said at the same time. Katie started jumping up and down and was breathing rather fast.
"Are you okay"?
Embarrased, Katie blushed a deepest red.
"Yes I'm alright".
"I'll be there in five minutes okay"?
More excited than she had ever been in her entire life, Katie said
"okay" before ending the call faster than she had meant to which led to another facepalm.
