Dinner

The next two days passed incredibly slowly for Idina. She had been waiting for a chance to speak with Jenn for over a month, and now that it was finally here, time seemed to be moving even slower.

Saturday was a blur for the singer. She woke up around eight, made Walker breakfast, got him ready for Taye to take for the next week, said goodbye to Walker, got herself ready, and ran errands for the remainder of the afternoon. But had she been asked what she had done, she couldn't have told you. She was so focused on that evening that she barely registered anything. At some point in the late afternoon, she somehow managed to put on a new, black dress with matching heels. It was as she stood in her bathroom at quarter to seven, straightening her hair, that the full impact of the upcoming dinner's events hit her.

She was going to do it. She was actually going to have the courage (she hoped) to talk to someone about the secret that she had kept hidden since marrying Taye almost eleven years ago. She was going to finally admit her truth.

With one last check in the mirror and a deep breath to calm the fighting butterflies in her stomach, Idina grabbed her purse and headed out the door to meet Jenn.

Meanwhile across town, Jenn was standing in her bedroom, sporting nothing more than a towel as she debated what to wear that evening.

"Just wear that new top that you got the other day; the white one with the lace? You looked beautiful in that" Siobhan, who was lying stretched out on her stomach on the bed, told her girlfriend. The blonde sighed.

"I don't know if it's fancy enough. Dee said she was wearing a dress. Should I wear one too?" she asked. Siobhan laughed.

"You mean one of the three you own?" the younger woman asked. Jenn rolled her eyes.

"I'll have you know that I own seven dresses, thank you very much" the blonde told her, smiling. Now it was Siobhan who rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. Just pick something, or you're going to be late" she told the older woman, getting off the bed and kissing her cheek.

"And whose fault is that?" Jenn asked. Siobhan smiled innocently as she made her way to the door.

"You were just as much a part of that as I was. Remember that sweetheart" the brunette said over her shoulder as she walked out of the room. Jenn smiled.

"Oh, trust me darling. I remember" she said with a smile. The blonde could hear her girlfriend's laugh from the other room as she dropped her towel and finally decided on the white top and a pair of black skinny jeans. Jenn topped off the look with a pair of black heels and a black blazer as she walked out into the living room to find Siobhan sitting on the couch, starring at her.

"You look stunning my love" the brunette said as she got up and handed her girlfriend her purse.

"Thanks love. I have to get going though if I don't want to be late. I don't how late we'll be out, so don't wait up" Jenn told her as she kissed her cheek and walked towards the door. She stopped when she heard her girlfriend's voice.

"You know I will" Siobhan said softly. Jenn smiled.

"I know. I love you Siobhan" the blonde told her girlfriend, giving her another kiss.

"Love you too Jenn. Say hi to Dee for me" Siobhan said as Jenn walked out the front door.

Idina was the first one to get to the restaurant, and she followed the hostess to her private table in the back of the restaurant. Luckily, no one recognized her, and she was able to make it to her seat without being stopped. She checked the time on her phone as she sat down at the table and noticed that it was only 7:20, and so she ordered a glass of white wine. She sipped it slowly as she waited for the blonde, her stomach becoming more and more twisted as time passed. A tap on her shoulder made her jump.
