RING, RING, RING! Time to get up and go to school. Yes! It was time for school. Usually I would hate to go to school, but today was an exception. Today the whole 9th grade class was going to Alaska for 2 weeks to study why the bears there are starting to deplete. I picked out some clothes to wear today and went to my bathroom to take a shower. I usually take long showers but today I could only take about a 10 minute one if I didn't want to be late. When I turned the shower off, I got out got dressed, brushed my teeth, went back in my room, grabbed my suitcase, and ran outside to wait on the bus. My name is Preston Adams and I live in a small town called Verbena in the state of Alabama. The school I go to is small but that's why I like it, because it's small. When the bus pulled up to my stop, I had some trouble getting on because of my suitcase and my backpack. But when I managed to get on the bus, I sat in the second to last seat with my friend Kimberly C. We usually don't talk in the mornings, but we do talk in the afternoons. I took my Mp3 player out of my pocket and scrolled through it to find the song I was in the mood for. Today I wanted to listen to one of my favorites, "Music Sounds Better With You" by Big Time Rush. I listened to my mp3 player until we arrived at school. When we were dropped off, I went straight to Mrs. Ballards room and signed in. we talked about how were getting there and she said it switched from a bus to a plane because it was quicker and easier than a bus. Time seemed like it flew by, first I was in the auditorium, then I was in the gym for role call, and now I'm on a bus on my way to the airport.

I haven't really had a phobia of flying, but I wasn't one of my top picks of transportation. After we unloaded off the bus, we walked through the security gates and waited about 30 minutes for our pilot to get the plane ready. It was supposed to leave at 9:30 but I don't think it was going to today. It was 9: 27 and he hasn't even stepped in the plane. "Flight 202 is ready for boarding, I repeat flight 202 is ready for boarding, thank you and have a nice day". Time to go I thought as we started heading towards a flight gate. When we boarded the plane, I figured we would be sitting in the lower class, but I as wrong. The whole first class was reserved for our class. They even had ipads we could get on to surf the web or do whatever. "This is the best day I've had so far"! My friend Dylan Connell said excitedly as we took our seats in the back. I sat in the middle of my 2 friends Dylan and Heath Oaks. "This is your captain speaking, we will be leaving shortly so just sit back, relax and enjoy the flight". "Este es su discurso del capitan, nos iremos pronto tan apenas sientese comodamente, relaje, y disfrute del vuelo". It said and repeated in Spanish. "I can't wait to go to Alaska". I said to Dylan. "I know, I can't wait either". He replied. Heath, Dylan, and I talked for about 3 minutes before we started moving. We started cheering and clapping when we took flight into the morning sky. "It'll take us about 6 hours to get to our destination so you may now take out the approved electronics our flight attendants give you or you can fall asleep or you can watch a movie". Our captain announced and translated in Spanish. For about 2 hours me Dylan and Heath played on the ipads, after we were done with that, we watched a movie called super 8 and talked mostly through it. The reason why I talked through it is I went and saw it in theaters opening night with my little brother and sister. After the movie was over, I took my mp3 player out of my pocket and listened to some music while I slept.

"Preston, Preston, we're here, come on wake up". Dylan said shaking my shoulder. I sat up and looked out the window. It wasn't what I imagined, but I liked it. "What town are we in"? I asked Dylan. "We are in Barrow Alaska". He said helping me with my stuff. We got off the plane and joined the rest of the class. When we joined them, we met the sheriff and talked to him briefly about the rules and recommendations of his town. "What about the bears that are depleting here"? I asked as he finished. "We don't have no conclusions based on why they are depleting but we're still working on it". "Come on, lets get you guys checked in the hotel". He said leading us to a bus. When we all boarded the bus, it took us some time to head off because we had to take role and wait for the driver to stop talking to the sheriff who I found out who it is, Eben Olsen. I looked out the window at the sheriff as we pulled away, except he had a smirk o his face and was waving goodbye. Probably nothing I thought as I looked forward. "Do you have any tooth paste I can borrow"? Dylan asked as I sat back in my seat. "Where's yours"? I asked him confusingly. "I forgot it at my house, I woke up late and I didn't even have time to brush my teeth see". He said breathing on me. "Gross". I said waving my hand back and forth and reaching in my bag to hand him some toothpaste. I had an extra one so I said that he could have it. "Thanks". He said slipping it into his bag. When we pulled up to the hotel, Mrs. Ballard told us to wait and pick our roommates for our room. Dylan looked and me once and I nodded. "What about Heath"? I asked him standing up. "Oh yeah". He said standing up. "Heath you wanna share a room with us"? He asked him. "Sure". He answered walking down the aisle behind us. The hotel was called The King Eider Inn. The King Eider Inn was in front of a big open field with a big frozen pond in the middle. And all of that was in front of a big forest that seemed to stretch on forever. "It looks like no ones been in the forest". I said to Dylan and Heath looking out the window. "Lets go see if we can check them out, we can unpack later". He said walking towards the door. "Ok". Heath and I said at the same time following him.
