You know that feeling, that makes you want to punch your fist through a wall and pull out all of your hair and kill every human being on this earth? To sum it up, I was feeling pretty pissed when I was awoken from my sweet dreams of chilling with Marina Dimandis due to the fact that my mum, who had clearly not gotten any sleep herself, told me some quite interesting news.

"Pack your bags, we're leaving, Cass," she said, her face expressing anger towards an obvious person. My father.

I didn't even question it. I knew it was because of him. Recently, the supposed "high school sweethearts" who had a daughter when my mum was just 19, were arguing every night

"Honey, your father cheated on me. He has been doing so, actually, for months now," my mum had told me a few weeks ago when she had first found the news, tears in her eyes.

I guess last night she had finally decided that we were going to leave. Or perhaps it had been earlier and she had chosen not to tell me. Either way, I was not very happy about leaving. Not that my father was an important figure in my life anymore, it was because I was going to miss this town. All of the positive memories that were made here could never be forgotten.
What really made me upset was that it was the first few weeks of summer. I had barely gotten to spend any time with my friends.

"Where are we going?" I asked, finally getting out of my bed and beginning to remove the comforter and the sheets from it.

"We're going to stay with your Aunt Deborah in the U.S. , in a state called Maine. Just you and I."

Right, like it wasn't obvious that it would only be us two anyway.

I knew this day was going to come, it was just hard to believe that this was actually happening, very quickly in that matter.

I pulled the charger out of my iPhone that was plugged in next to my bed, and texted my friends to tell them the news. Over the many years of living here in England, I had made many friends. Leaving them so abruptly would be very difficult.

First, I decided to text my best friend Elizabeth.

"Hey Liz, I have to tell you something. So basically my parents have been arguing a lot lately after my dad cheated on my mum. Tonight I'm leaving, and I just wanted to say goodbye before I left. I love you best friend (; and I'll never ever forget you."

Scratch that , it was heartbreaking to have to send that to my best friend. Then over, and over, and over again to all my other friends.

Since I was leaving later that day, once I was finished packing many suitcases full of my needed belongings, my mum had allowed me to grab ice cream with my friends before we left.

Prior to getting ice cream, I noticed my dad sleeping on the couch in my living room, several bottles of beer on the floor next to him. I sighed, How did this seemigly happy family crumble down so quickly? I wondered to myself.

Many hugs and goodbyes later, my mum and I were off in a cab going to the airport that would bring us to Maine.

The plane ride was around 10 or so hours long, which gave me plenty of time to browse Tumblr, listen to music, and of course read fanfiction. Some of which my mother would not be proud to see I was reading.

Finally, we had arrived. It was very nerve-wracking, being in America for the first time. I had no idea what kinds of people I would approach. It was the summertime, so school would not be an issue at the moment, but what could possibly be an issue was actually, you know, making friends. I had made many friends after living in England my whole life, who knows how difficult it were to be to make friends when first moving somewhere!

I was startled from my thoughts when my mum instructed me to take my bags, which were on the conveyor belt from the airplane.

A cab ride and about and hour later, we were at my aunt's house. I didn't think I was ever going to be able to say that, since this trip was just so entirely time consuming.

Being greeted with warm hugs and sweet smiles was comforting, though.

"Hello Cassandra! It's so nice to meet you!" grinned my aunt Deborah, followed my my uncle Jim and their son Peter, my cousin, agreeing.

"Nice to meet you too, thanks for taking my mom and I in to stay with you guys," I responded, trying to be as polite as possible, although it was a very awkward conversation and I already wanted to get out of there.

After a gigantic dinner, I began unpacking my bags. Conveniently, there were two guest rooms, so my mum and I each got our own room.

Once I was settled in, I opened up my tumblr only to remember that there was no wifi.

"Shit," I cursed under my breath. I decided to go downstairs and ask for the password.

"May I ask, what is your wifi password?" I said to my aunt, followed by a light chuckle from her.

"We don't have wifi, I'm sorry," she replied sweetly.

I nodded in dismay and went back up into "my" room, and lay down on my bed.

This was going to be a great summer, wasn't it?
