Chapter 4
I pull the bag out the bin and head out the front door. Barely got any sleep last night, but I managed. Put some music on then eventually fell asleep. The sky doesn't look any different than yesterday. I'd say the clouds look even darker. Plus it's kind of cold, but wearing only a shirt doesn't help.
I open the garbage bin and throw the bag in. I don't know when pickup day is. So, I'm really not bothered to set it on the curb. Madison can handle that. I close the bin and take a look at my watch. One-fifteen. "Where you headed?" I see Madison in the doorway.
"Back to work."
That's right. Came back for lunch. "I gotta grab something from your car." I step into the house.
Madison lightly pushes me aside and steps out. "I know, come get it." She unlocks her car and sets her coffee on top.
"Gee, well excuse you." I remark and lean on the doorway. Madison opens her door and reaches for the trunk release, I'm guessing. I hear her pulling a switch, but nothing's happening. Upset, she curses to herself and goes to the back of the car. I head over to see as well.
Behind the car I see her trying the latch, but it's not opening. I step closer. "Here. Let me." I offer, and Madison moves aside. I lift the switch and feel it move. I lift a second time and the trunk pops up. "Got it." I lift up the tailgate and see them inside. In the corner of my eye I see the van the Loud's drive, and I look over to see it passing by.
Looking back, I see Madison glaring at me. "Hurry up. I have a meeting I'm supposed to be at." I reach in and set them on the walkway. Then I head back to grab the amp. Madison gets back in her car.
After I get done, she backs out of driveway and heads off. All while her coffee falls and spills all over her car. Maybe I should've told her about the coffee, and her open trunk. Shit. I hope she doesn't get a ticket. The open trunk is my fault I will admit, but the coffee is on her. Literally.
I try to look for the van, but it's long gone already. I couldn't really make out who was in there because of the distance. Where were they off to? It's not like I need to know, come to think of it. It's none of my business.
I pick up the cases and head over to the car. I really should check for any moisture damage. They look fine. Good, that's good. Then I open the trunk and set them all in the back. The Strat can sit in there for now, but I will be using it. I might just sit in the car and wait around. Not really much else to do right now. So, I get in and sit down.
Luna set the meeting for two if I remember right. It's only one-fifteen, last I checked anyway. On my phone I see a few missed calls, but they didn't leave any messages. My phone's on silent which is probably why I didn't notice. I've never seen this number before, but if they're persistent. I could at least see who it is. In the cupholder I see a pair of aviators, and so I put them in my pocket. I don't know why. Just to have, I guess.
I wonder if I should head over now and see if Luna needs any help. Might as well. Before I head out, I should really grab my jacket. I head inside to grab my jacket and my hoodie while I'm at it. I pull on my hoodie. Then I get back into the car and throw my jacket on the passenger seat. I back out and make my way over to her place.
Pulling up to the curb, I see Luna at their back gate, along with Lynn. Luna turns her head and waves me into the driveway. Luna starts guiding me to the right side and signals me to stop. I roll down the window and she approaches. "Hey, Y/N. You're here early. Boy, ain't this car nice."
