"Uggghhh don't be such a party pooper GG!"
"An exclusive party where high-society act and dress like vampires? Cmon Lisa that sounds weird, and most importantly fake." I say as we walk to our first class of the day. Like me, Lisa is taking Business. Unlike me, Lisa is loaded, so she didn't have to take a part-time job to pay for tuition AND she can drag me to high end parties that are WAYYYY out of my league. Not that I mind.

"You don't understand GG! This party is THE party of the century! We can snea-"
"Whoa whoa whoa! I thought you said you were IMVITED and that you could bring a plus one?" I said crossing my arms. I knew there had to be a catch.
"I am not sneaking into an event that big with a klutz like you."
"Oh shut up." She says as she smacks my arm and we both laugh, finally entering Professor Alan's classroom.
We both take our seats and get ready to watch some 1-hour video about business strategies. Boooorrring.

Halfway though I started to get tired, so I pulled out my phone to text my other friend, Derek.

"Omg this video is soooo boring. I'm trying to stay away to watch it and get more information but I don't think I can keep my eyes open anymore :("

I hurriedly put my phone away as I look up to see Professor Alan starting to look up at me. Luckily, I put it away at turn my attention to the screen like I was watching the whole time.
I feel a buzz in my right jacket pocket signaling that Derek texted me back. I ignore it for now and try to focus and write down some notes about the video. I glance to my right and see Lisa fast asleep with her head laying on her desk. I stifle my laugh with my wrist as I quietly reach over and nudge her, causing her to jerk awake and grab her pencil, acting like she was writing down notes the whole time. I roll my eyes playfully and go back to writing down notes.

This was going to be a long day.

"I hate New York."
"Not as trashy as California."
"True."
Lisa and I converse as she helps me clean up mash potato from my hair in one of the schools bathrooms. It seems like everyone here got a stick up their butt since this is a quote on quote "high-end" university. but I guess Lisa is right, not as bad as school in L.A. ugh. Been there, done that.

"What did I do to deserve this?" She picks a glob of potato's off the top of my head and looks at me in disbelief.
"You called her a cunt GG."
"It slipped."
"Sure it did."
"Then again SHE made me trip and fall and didn't even apologize, I'm glad you held me back."
"What were you gonna do? Slap her to death?"
"If I had to."
"Whatever, dork." She laughs as she balls up the potato covered paper towel and throws it away. I jump off of the counter I was sitting on and pick up my backpack, ready to leave the bathroom when Lisa's arm fly out, stoping me from leaving.
"What are you doing?"
"We're still going to the party you know."
"Oh come on Lisa I don't want to tal-"
"But we're going to."
We stare at each other for a few seconds. Her eyes trying to convince me to come with her.

"How are we going to get into and exclusive event that we don't even know where it is an-"
"It's at The Prince George Ballroom."

"O......kay......That makes this even worse L!!" I say exasperated, slapping my arms on my side. How are we supposed to get in there? Especially without a reservation?

"Well, I know they have this "thing"" Lisa says scratching her cheek looking a little uncertain."
"Cmon spill."
"Well it's called a vampire ball an-"
"Oh here we go again.."
"I'm serious listen!!" She says covering my mouth with her right hand.
"At the vampire ball, the "vampires" weird glitter on their face, you know, so they can tell the humans from the vampires."
"But in this case the rich from the poor."
"I'm serious GG, that's how the party works."
"Couldn't we just throw some cheap dollar store glitter on our face and-"
"That doesn't work."
"Has nobody ever tried?"
"People have, but the people that organize the event send each patron a glitter box of special glitter that they can, somehow, tell that they are legit."

"How on earth does that even work? Is their a tracker in the little glitters?" I say laughing, but when I look at Lisa I see she has a dead serious face."

"Oh whatever Lisa, there isn't a tracking device in small little glitter.....sparkles? Right?" I say unsure. I know we aren't that advanced in technology, but, who knows what billionaires do in the comfort of their......mansions.

"I don't know GG, but all I know is that we HAVE to get into the party, and we don't have to have glitter on our face anyways. It'll be fun." She says speedily, moving her arm from blocking the door to around my shoulder as we both walk out from the bathroom; my hair wet and with the stench of potatoes.

We both split up and go to our last classes of the day. I walk into my class and sit at my desk in the front-left of the room. I can barely pay attention to what my teacher is talking about. The thought of going to that party is filling my thoughts with worry and excitement. This doesn't seem like any other charity party she usually drags me too, and I don't like it.

I'm snapped back to reality when I hear the professor say that she has to end class early today. Excited, I gather my stuff ready to leave the class. While packing, I feel a presence behind me. Confused, since I don't know anyone in this class, I turn around and see the boy who always sits at the back of the class. He's a lean guy with blonde hair a blue eyes.

"Umm.......hi?" I say as I stop gathering my stuff and look at him. He stares at me and I stare back confused.

Awkward.........

"Be careful tonight." Was all he said as he turned on his heels and walked out of the classroom, leaving only me.

What on earth was that?

Feeling uneasy, I finish packing up and jog outside of the classroom. As I walk outside and to my car, I pull out my phone and immediately call Lisa.

She picks up on the 2nd ring

"Hello?"
"I'm not going."
"Wait, what do you mean? What happened?"
"Some guy in my class just walked up to me and told me to be careful tonight."
There's a small pause, and then she starts to talk.
"Maybe he heard our convo from the bathroom? We were in the doorway. Maybe he likes yoouuuuuu." She says dragging out the "O" in you.
"I'm serious Lisa, I'm scared! That was mad creepy and I'm a huge believer in signs, and this is a sign that I shouldn't go." I say as I get into my 2002 Ford Explorer and start it up.
"I understand GG but pleeaasee reconsider!!! I don't want to go alone, you're my only friend."
"You have many friends in your high-society circle Lisa." I say as I start driving to my apartment on Madison Ave.
"They're not my true friends and you know that. They're just my dads friends kids." She says jokingly, trying to distract me from the fact that i'm still not sure about going.
"Im scared Lisa, that really freaked me out!"
"I'll be there with you!"
"What if we both die? Huh? Never thought about that have you?" I say as I pull up to the outside of my apartment building.
"We're not gonna die G."
"I mean I doubt it too but still." I joke as I get out my car and head into the building. I get in the elevator and press the 4th floor.
"Please?" She says practically begging as I walk out of the elevator and head to my room. I get my keys out of my bag and unlock my door.
"Okay okay fine, I'll come."
"YESSS!!" She screams making me move the phone from my face and roll my eyes. I close my door and lock it, throwing my bag on the floor and flopping on my couch as I put the phone back to my ear.
"You're not going to regret it!! We're gonna have fun and you might even sway some hottie." She says in a sultry voice. I can see her eyebrows wiggling from here.
I didn't look all that, I have semi-long dark brown hair with black glasses and brown skin. I didn't think I looked bad, but I'm sure "blind bat" isn't on any billionaires date list. I swear I'm incapable without my glasses.
"I highly doubt that would ever happen Lisa." I say grabbing the remote on the table across from me and turning on Green Acres. Best. Show. Ever.
"Ugh are you watching Green Acres again? Why do you have to be so..so-"
"Old?"
"Bingo." We both laugh as I turn up the tv to mess with her. She always called me old since I watch old shows and listen to old music. Can't go wrong with the classics.
"Well it's only 6pm. Didn't you say it started at 12? You're lucky it's Friday woman." I say as I put her on speaker and play some Tetris on my phone.
"Yes this gives us 6 hours to prepare!!! Well, I'll prepare since you don't even have a good dress to wear. I'll head to New York Vintage Inc so I can get you a classy dress just for you okay granny?" I smile and roll my eyes playfully. Lisa seems like the only one to really get me.
"Bye LiLi."
"Bye GG."
I hang up the phone and turn so I'm laying on my back as I stare at the ceiling.

I can't believe she convinced me to go, I swear if we can't even get in I'm going to be angry.

As I worry and continue to stare at the ceiling I slowly drifted off, relaxing my mind before I enter another world tonight.
