Getting Ready

"WAKE UP!!!"
I jerk up from my deep sleep and grab the tv remote, ready to attack the intruder only to see that it's Lisa.
"What is wrong with you! You scared me!"
"It's not my fault you gave me an apartment key."
"I did?"
"Do you have dementia?"
"Shut up."
Still drowsy, I put down the remote and look towards the window only to see that it's dark out.
"What time is it?"
"It's 9 which means we only have 3 hours!! Come on come on we're losing time granny." She says as she pushes me into my bedroom and starts yanking off my shirt.
"Hey! I get it stop rushing me you madwoman." I say as I head towards my bathroom to take my shower.

After my shower, I head into my room only to be immediately grabbed by Lisa as she sits me in a chair in front of a mirror. Slightly annoyed by her pushiness, I stare at myself in the mirror in front of me. Ever since starting college, I haven't had time to really look at myself. Not if the time I just get up, take a shower, brush my teeth, brush my hair, wash my face and head out the door.

"Okay! What do you think?" She holds in front of me a long light yellow colored prom dress with short sleeves; and flowers that decorates the collar and the chest area. Looks like something a starlet from the 60's would wear.

"I lOVE IT!!!" I say as I start to reach for it, only for Lisa to wack me with a ruler.

"Are you crazy GG? There's NO way you're getting or even touching this beauty until I do your hair and make up."
"Fine" I say defeated. I touch my face too much to even wear makeup.
"And, I got some nice white gloves for you to wear also, you know, so you'd be a little more hesitant in touching your face." She says poking her own cheek.
"Okay that seems too-"
"AHH!! It's already 10?!?!" She says dramatically as she throws the dress on my bed and runs back to me.
"Okay don't move, we have to get this done right now. I haven't even got my dress on yet!" She says as she reaches into her huge Chanel purse and grabs a ton of makeup and hair products. I decide to just close my eyes and let her work her magic on my face and head.

About 15 minutes of sitting in my uncomfortable vanity chair, The movement on my face stops as I hear a "done!" by Lisa. I open my eyes and look at myself in the mirror. I have on a Carmen Rouge Coco Chanel lipstick, with wing eyeliner, LE VOLUME DE CHANEL mascara, and dark red powdered blush on my cheeks. I don't know if you could tell, but Lisa loves Chanel.

"Oh my goodness." I lean closer to the mirror, not believing what I'm seeing in the mirror.

That's me?

I have never worn makeup ever in my life, no matter how much Lisa or my family always encouraged me to try it. The woman in the mirror looks so sophisticated and regal; totally unlike me. Sadly.

"I'm guessing you like it?" She playfully says as she pulls a chair up next to mines and starts doing her own makeup.
"How did you get this good at makeup?"
"I have my mom to thank mostly, she has always been into makeup you know." She says wrapping her hair in a bun. Still not believing I look this amazing, I continue to stare at myself in the mirror, causing Lisa to pause doing her makeup and look at me, giggling.

"Yes woman, you do actually look that good. Now hurry!! It's almost 11!!" She screams as she gets up and picks my dress up off the bed, handing it to me.
"So I can't help you get dressed, but PLEASE try not to ruin your makeup putting that dress on. The back zipper is long enough for you to just step in it." She says putting the finishing touches on her makeup. She gets up and goes into the bathroom as I get up and unzip my dress, slowly stepping into it as to not accidentally rip the beautiful fabric. I pull it up on me and turn to the mirror to see how it looks on me. Surprisingly, the light yellow color of the dress matches perfectly with my brown skin tone. Admiring the ethereal look of the dress, Lisa runs out of the bathroom with a long elegant silver sequin dress, diamond earrings and a diamond chocker necklace.
"You look amazing Lisa...." I say basically starstruck. Lisa always knew how to clean up nicely, no matter what event she was going to.
"Thanks granny, and you look like you just stepped out of a royal portrait 'cause you look SO regal girl!" She says walking behind me and zipping up my dress. I jokingly roll my eyes at her granny comment and turn around so that I can help her zip hers up also. After zipping up her dress, she turns around and starts to take the hair curlers out of my hair.
"Girl, how is your hair so long?" She says taking off the last one. When straightened, my hair is mid back length compared to Lisa's whose hair was always in a bob.
"Genetics?"
"I guess?" She says picking up her phone and checking the time. If her eyes got any wider they would easily fall out.
"ITS 11:30?!? SINCE WHEN?!?!" She screams basically teleporting to my vanity mirror and brushing her hair furiously. I run to the side of my bed and get my diamond studs and white heels. I put everything on and give my hair a fluff while Lisa throws on her silver sequin shoes that match with her dress.
She grabs her clutch and I grab my white purse as we both rush out of my apartment and into the street. As we walk outside of the building, I see a black limo parked right in front of us.
"You didn't."
"I did." She says as she casually walks up to the limo. The driver gets out and rushes to the door and opens it for the both of us. Lisa gets in first as I follow behind her and the man closes the door.
"I keep forgetting you're loaded."
"Really? I never forget." She happily says as she looks in the rear view mirror and checks her makeup.
"Yeah yeah well, you begged me to come with you and now what? How are we going to sneak in?" She pushes up the mirror and turns to me and smiles.
"That's the best part! I didn't want to tell you until we got there but........I GOT US ON THE LIST!" She yells as she punches the air, doing her happy dance.
"Wait you got us on the list? How?"
"I toooooold you, my dad knows people who know people who know people." She says smugly, still giddy over the fact that we're going to this party.
"Okay Richie Rich, so are you going to have the weird glitter on your face?"
"Sweetie, I got us IN, I'm rich, but I'm no billionaire." She laughs and nudges my shoulder. She gets her phone out and starts to text her dad, leaving me to my thoughts.

Thinking of all the info I got from this "exclusive" party has got me worried. I can't shake the odd feeling that something unbelievable is going to happen at this party.........
